Qtel announced today the launch of a new Internet roaming service which will provide Internet dial-up customers with easy access to their 'Internet Qatar' accounts from anywhere in the world without having to make expensive international calls or having to go to the trouble of signing up with foreign ISPs.
The new service allows Qtel's Internet dial-up users to travel abroad and still be able to access their home ISP, read and retrieve their e-mail messages and browse the Internet at a local call charge rate, regardless of which country they are accessing their Internet account from.
Qtel's Internet roaming facility is simple to set-up with a quick and easy connection, giving customers reliable connectivity with improved connection speeds. Internet dial-up users will also be able to access their existing, and familiar Internet services such as e-mail and the web browser while maintaining one account with simple access and easy billing. This will be billed to customers in one simple bill for all Internet and roaming charges.
The service works by allowing Internet subscribers who are travelling abroad to log on to a local ISP within that country, and this foreign ISP will then route the access back to Qtel's home ISP.
Qtel's roaming partner has agreements with 300 top-tier service providers giving Qtel customers remote access to their dial-up Internet account using Internet roaming through more than 40,000 wired and wireless access points in more than 170 countries and territories across the globe.
Executive Director Wireline Services, Khalil AL Emadi said, "With Internet roaming, our Internet dial-up subscribers will no longer have to contend with the hassle of contacting a local ISP when travelling abroad and paying in expensive local currency to open a new Internet account. They can now easily connect to the Internet a the cost of a local call when they travel abroad to over 170 destinations."
"Internet dial-up customers can now have Internet access using their Qtel Internet account from anywhere at anytime," said Khalil .
