Doha, 20 November 2012 - QScience.com is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Portico, an electronic archive service provider, to preserve its e-journals. Through this agreement, QScience.com can now ensure that its e-journals will be preserved and available for future scholars, researchers, and students.

Arend Kuster, Managing Director at QScience.com said, "We are delighted to join Portico as our journals portfolio is growing.  Digital preservation is central to our strategy and we know that researchers, scientists and librarians want to make sure that their research is accessible for future generations.  Our recent agreement highlights that we are taking our mission to serve the authors and scholarly community very seriously and are striving to offer the best service."

QScience.com is a collaborative, peer-reviewed online publishing platform. Developed by Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Journals, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, QScience.com's goal is to create a unique and collaborative research environment for Qatar and the rest of the world.

QScience.com is advancing a number of digital preservation initiatives to ensure that its digital resources and collections are preserved for future generations of scholars, students, researchers and the general public. Long term digital preservation and perpetual access is assured through Portico and all papers have a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) so that all reference and forwarding linking is also persistent.

Qatar Foundation - Unlocking Human Potential
Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development is a private, non-profit organisation that is supporting Qatar on its journey from carbon economy to knowledge economy by unlocking human potential for the benefit of not only Qatar, but the world.  Founded in 1995 by His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, QF is chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.

QF carries out its mission through three strategic pillars: education, science and research, and community development.  QF's education pillar brings world-class universities to Qatar to help create an education sector in which young people can develop the attitudes and skills required for a knowledge economy.  Meanwhile, its science and research pillar builds Qatar's innovation and technology capacity by developing and commercialising solutions through key sciences.  Finally, its community development pillar helps foster a progressive society while also enhancing cultural life, protecting Qatar's heritage and addressing immediate social needs in the community.
