The end of 2006 will bring forth the Future Headquarter for Qatar National Bank which will be located facing Doha Bay in the center of the Corniche area. The building is designed to be a prominent Landmark and an Icon of Qatar National Bank that would be instantly recognized locally and throughout the world. The Design has been developed such that it would be:
Based on these guidelines, the Building was developed as a modern sculpture that dynamically and dramatically changes as the User approaches it from the Corniche, or drives around it. In other words, the building is a living form that transforms I depending on the location from which is it viewed, the velocity which it is approached and the time of day at which it is utilized.
The main concept of the design is derived from a theme that Arata Isozaki has been developing throughout his long career: that of a "City in the air". While this theme has been Arata Isozaki' s life-long pursuit, it has remained a theory until today .
Qatar National Bank will be the first physical crystallization of this theme, and will in that sense also be a Landmark in the career of the Architect himself. This has only been made possible at this present day by the advancements in construction technology and therefore the Qatar National Bank will be at the cutting edge of the practice of Architecture' s historical quest to build monuments that defy gravity and time.
The building follows a very unique structural concept: prefabricated structural members 12 meters in length, through their modular alternation, enabling the building to attain this very.
The future headquarter will have an architectural area of 25,00 m2, and a total built area of around 63,000 m2. In addition to offices, there would be a state of the art conference facility/ multipurpose hall of 300 seating capacity . The total height for the building is 91.5m with three underground basements able to accommodate for around 800 cars.
