Doha, Qatar: May 18, 2011: Following the launch of HEC Paris in Qatar's new Major for energy executives on Sunday, Qatargas has hosted one full day of the program in Ras Laffan, giving participants vital access to a major energy-industry hub.

A total of 27 senior executives  participated in the 'Management in an Energy-Concerned Economy' Major. The group  travelled to Ras Laffan on 12 May for a full day of executive teaching as part of the week-long program being held in Doha.

The collaboration was initiated and coordinated by Qatargas, the world's largest LNG producer. According to Ghanim Al Kuwari, Chief Operating Officer - Administration at Qatargas, the initiative is in line with the company's corporate citizenship strategy. "We were delighted to host the EMBA (Executive Master of Business Administration) participants at Ras Laffan for the new Major. Qatargas is constantly seeking opportunities to support Qatar's energy community. Partnering with HEC Paris in Qatar to support their delivery of world-class teaching is a natural extension of our corporate philosophy," he said.

The collaboration fulfills HEC Paris in Qatar's mission to engage with and partner with leading companies in Qatar in its delivery of world-class executive education programs.

"We would like to express our gratitude to Qatargas for hosting our final day of the program at Ras Laffan," said Professor Antoine Hyafil, academic director and acting academic dean at HEC Paris in Qatar. "The Energy Major, which was held for the first time in Doha, is a vital addition to our programs in Qatar, and will ensure that senior executives have the skills and business insight to answer the challenges of the global energy industry. The support HEC Paris in Qatar has received from Qatargas is evidence of the strength of our relationship, and signals the ongoing commitment of HEC Paris in Qatar to energy companies in Qatar."

Launched in Doha on May 8, with the participation of the Institut Francais du Petrole (IFP),  the Major was offered as part of HEC Paris in Qatar's Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program and as a stand-alone certificate.  The Major is designed to deliver a comprehensive understanding of energy fundamentals, and prepare executives to manage the twin challenges of energy demand and climate change. The course builds on programs that have been developed over the past three years on the HEC Paris campus in France.

The Major was held from May 8-12 in Doha, and will be held from October 17-21 in Paris.  For more information about this and other programs, visit: www.emba.hec.edu
