Doha - Leading Group CEO of Marafeq, Ahmed Al Ammari along with the CEO of Doha Bank Dr. Raghavan were amongst the leading line up of C-Level executives supporting the Qatar Gas Distribution Projects conference that was hosted by the International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC).
Spearheaded by its event partners Marafeq, Mowasalat and Qatar Fuel (WOQOD) the conference was dedicated to driving growth of sustainable energy in the region. Dr. Naji Abi-Aad the COO of Petroleb discussed how replacing crude oil and petroleum products by natural gas would help in confronting chronic problems such as air pollution as the focus on sustainable energy and environmental consideration is increasing in Qatar.
Volkswagen Qatar, the events official car partner displayed only one of its model range the Volkswagen Passat EcoFuel car at the venue. Brett Subritzky, Business Development Manager of Mowasalat, the State-owned transport company of Qatar, mentioned that they have incorporated this compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle into its fleet as the company determines its commitment to combat pollution and demonstrate the importance of using clean energy as an integral part of its basic energy utilization in Qatar. The introduction of the first eco-fuel Volkswagen Passat EcoFuel as the first CNG car in the country was only one of the pioneering moves in this direction. Kevin Hughes the General Manager of Q-auto "We are very proud to take part in this event, showcasing the benefits and environmental impacts of using Volkswagen factory fitted CNG vehicles. The Passat EcoFuel, currently undergoing feasibly tests on Mowasalat, is the only one of the models of the complete range of CNG vehicles that Volkswagen produces. We strongly believer that Volkswagen will be a key partner in Qatar's Mowasalat vision on green mobility"
The conference is the first Qatari focused international conference to highlight the importance of gas distribution for achieving national energy security and sustainable development. Speaking on the importance of the event to the market, Leila Masinaei Al Marzouqi, Director for the Energy Division of IQPC Middle East said: "In Qatar, the first CNG Fuelling Station and first paid or public transport CNG buses mark the nation's march towards meeting its growing fuel needs with an environmentally friendly alternative. This event is an ideal platform for all stakeholders to come together to take a sneak peak of what is expected to happen in Qatar's growing energy landscape."
