Middle Eastern top the rankings according to expats' in terms of the financial rewards they offer. The survey shows that career-orientated women thrive in Qatar, which was chosen as the best country for both, increased earnings (57%) and a greater ability to save money (73%).  Meanwhile, the UAE is also recognised under these categories as 4 out of 10 women (40%) said that they earn more here than in their home country, above the global average of 31%. Additionally, 54% highlight that they are able to put aside more money here. The financial benefits of living in the region are also apparent as expat women rank Qatar (88%) and the UAE (87%) as the best globally for the benefits they are provided by their employers.

Asian countries, nonetheless, rank the highest in terms of career development prospects for women. Nearly two thirds (63%) of female expats say Hong Kong is a good place for expats to progress their career, followed closely by China (59%) and Singapore (56%). Almost half (49%) of expat women in the UAE associate with this view, far above the global average of 38%.

Commenting on the findings and the opening of the 2016 survey, Gifford Nakajima, Head of Wealth Development, UAE and MENA, Retail Banking and Wealth Management, HSBC Bank Middle East Limited said: "It is extremely encouraging to see the UAE highlighted by women as a top destination for the financial incentives and career opportunities it offers, further showing why the country remains one of the most popular destinations globally. The annual Expat Explorer survey provides us with these unique insights and it also serves as a comprehensive resource for all current and prospective expats looking to leave their home countries. Not only can expats find out how the country they live in performs compared to other destinations, but they can also share the real life experiences of their peers.

With this in mind and as expats form an integral part of life in the UAE, we would like to hear from a greater number of you this year in order to better understand your perspectives on your lives abroad, and we invite all of you to participate in our survey."

These findings are being released as HSBC's 2016 Expat Explorer survey opens to respondents: https://start.yougov.com/refer/vysfh7HYcJdChF?&source=2

Almost 22,000 expats took part in the 2015 Expat Explorer survey, including 2,000 in the UAE who ranked the country among the top 10 expat destinations in the world, and this year HSBC is looking for even more expats to share their experiences of living abroad.

If you're living or working abroad and are 18 or over, we want to hear about your experience to help other expats navigate the opportunities and challenges of life abroad. The 2016 Expat Explorer survey is open to all expats from now until 17 April, with the findings being released towards the end of the year.
