Some of the best breeds showcased at recent pigeon championship at QAQ
Sharjah: Qanat Al Qasba, Sharjah's premier tourist and family destination, saw a full house at the Fantail Pigeon Competition held on Saturday, February 9. The competition that drew many a pigeon lover from across the UAE was resplendent with champion pigeons and their owners cum trainers who walked away with fantastic prizes.
The event brought together some of the best breed of pigeons from across the country to one destination, and three winners from each category were chosen by special referees. In the Jacobin Category, Males, Ali Sha'ban won first place, while Abdu Al Aziz Al Fardan and Bader Mosa were awarded second and third prizes respectively.
For the Female category, first and second places were both won by Bader Mosa, and the third place by Ali Khalfan Al Suwaidi, with the championship award of the Jacobin Category going to Ali Sha'ban.
The Fantail Category also saw some fantastic breeds with Marwan Suhail walking away with the championship award as well as the first and third prizes in the Male category, followed by Mohamad Majed who was awarded second place. Marwan Suhail also won first place in the Fantail Female category, while the feathered friends of Mohamad Majed were placed second and third.
The Al Qasba Fantail Pigeon Competition is many of the unique events Qanat Al Qasba organizes through the year to provide the best of entertainment and culture for its visitors. The unique location that has fast caught on as an entertainment and family hub in the region also boasts of the highest observatory wheel in the region, the first ever musical fountain in the region and a fantastic array restaurants and cafes lining the picturesque banks of the Al Qasba Canal.
Making it a successful event, famous referees Joseph Karl Ceaser from the USA, and Zahed Ahmad from the Kingdom of Bahrain, judged the event. Ceaser, who is famous for his vast knowledge of pigeons has refereed pigeon competitions for the past 45 years and owns his own pigeon club.
