Q-Post will showcase limited edition and personalised stamps at Middle East & Africa conference, Tsunami Relief Fund to benefit

Dubai: Q-Post, the State of Qatar General Post Corporation, has announced the launch of commemorative stamp collections which will serve as an official record of Qatar's recent history and impressive economic and cultural development.

The unique and prestigious albums will be on show at the World Mail, Express and Air Cargo Expo, being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 1-2 March, and will feature stamps celebrating the 2006 Asian Games in Doha and a new personalised stamp service, developed in-house by Q-Post IT services.  This high-tech product, which allows customers to produce their own stamps using images of family and friends, is the latest edition to Q-Post's 'philatelic' portfolio and is dedicated to Tsunami Relief, with a percentage of the income going to the charity.

Also included in the display of collections are stamps marking significant achievements and events including the wedding of the heir apparent H. H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

According to Mr Ali Mohd Al Ali, Q-Post chairman and general manager, philatelic products are a vital part of the corporation: "The albums we have developed contain graphics of all the stamps issued from the beginning of the Postal Service in the State of Qatar in 1957, to the present time," said Mr Al Ali.  "The stamps provide a unique record of a country's development."

The World Mail, Express and Air Cargo Expo, Middle East & Africa, jointly organised by Traingle Management Services and Dubai-based Streamline Marketing, is the first event of its kind in the region and has been earmarked by Q-Post as the perfect forum in which to network with like-minded companies at a global level. "We are looking forward to meeting with our peers - especially those involved in online and hybrid mail systems."

The event, which follows the success of 21 previous mail and express expos around the world, has already attracted a diverse and international selection of the transportation industry's top players including the CEO's of the Tunisian, Kenyan, Sierra Leone and Lebanese postal services.

Other key figures attending, and also speaking at the opening of conference, are the patron H.E. Sultan Saeed Al Mansoori, the UAE Minister of Communications and Abdulla Ibrahim Al Daboos, Director General of host sponsor Emirates Post.

Confident of a successful expo, Nick Webb, managing director of Streamline Marketing said: "This event is vital for the fast developing mail, express and air cargo industries in the region and it will stand out as unique thanks to the inclusion of the air freight industry, which is being recognised due to Dubai's key role as a cargo-hub."

Leading transportation companies ARAMEX and DHL will attend the world expo as premium sponsors, with ARAMEX also showcasing its total transportation solutions portfolio.  FedEx, TCS, Qatar Post and Dubai Cargo Village will hold the position of support sponsors.
