Roads & Transport Authority - Manal Khalid:

The Public Transport Agency, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has recently upgraded the software used in scheduling bus timetables by migrating to the global transit scheduling system known as HASTUS (Horaires et Assignations d'un Système de Transport Urbain et Structuré). The step is part of the Agency's plans aimed at improving the systems in use, and introducing the best international programs compatible with its drive for excellence.

Eisa Abdul Rahman Al Dosari, CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency, said: "The new technological system which has been activated recently is one of the most sophisticated international systems used in scheduling public buses, thanks to its enhanced accuracy and simple functionality. It is worth-mentioning that the system is used in many leading countries such as the USA, Australia and France to name a few.

"The system has multiple features most notably is that it makes it easy for the concerned employees to schedule timetables and take appropriate actions as a result of changes made in lines and routes of public buses, besides that, the system is also used in the daily business of bus depots. The system is also characterized by its technological & technical sophistication such as the ability to analyse the actual times of bus arrivals; which in turn will help improve future schedules automatically. It also brings about other improvements in printing the timetables intended for bus stops and has the ability to initiate and revise reports pertaining to routes & drivers schedules in a way customized to suit each user.

"The Public Transport Agency is constantly reviewing the world's best global practices within the realms of its diverse business spheres as we are fully aware of the substantial improvements taking place in public transport and mass transit systems in the UAE; which prompt us to work on the introduction of the best systems capable of saving time & effort, uplifting efficiency, and realizing RTA vision of Safe & Smooth Transport for All.
