New business collaboration solution provides enhanced productivity and greater operational efficiency through quick access to information regarding legal department contracts

Kuwait, March 20, 2011 - Microsoft Gulf today announced that the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) in Kuwait has implemented Microsoft® SharePoint® 2010, the business collaboration platform for the enterprise and Internet. In the process, the PAI which develops, promotes and supervises the industrial activity in the State of Kuwait has received significant benefits in the form of enhanced productivity and greater operational efficiency by  automating and managing their legal department contracts and providing users with relevant information through Microsoft SharePoint.

Abdul Kareem Taqi, Information Center and Decision Support Manager at PAI, said, "The implementation of Microsoft SharePoint has been a critical development for us to provide a superior knowledge management platform to access information across the entire lifecycle of our tendering process encompassing tender preparation, tendering and contract awarding in addition to contract execution and follow- up. We have seen a quantum jump in terms of employee productivity thanks to SharePoint which has provided our employees with a seamless experience as they quickly access the information and tools they need to do their jobs in an optimal manner."

Ehab Mostafa, Country Manager, Microsoft Kuwait, added, "The successful implementation of Microsoft SharePoint  at the  Public Authority for Industry (PAI) -  Kuwait is a great validation of the enormous benefits that SharePoint as a dynamic business collaboration platform provides to help customers quickly respond to changing business needs. Using SharePoint 2010, customers like Public Affairs Authority are increasingly using the solution to find the right business information to be more productive and make smarter decisions to enhance operational efficiency."

The solution has been customized in accordance with the CTC (Central Tendering Committee) Law which each government entity in Kuwait must follow in the offering and awarding of tenders. With the implementation of this knowledge management solution, employees at PAI have benefitted from fast access to all contract data via a proper document management system. They can now validate the proper approvals for all tenders according to local laws, alert users on tasks and provide management with an overview on the progress of completion of required tenders and contracts.

The solution has also been integrated with a work flow engine and an SMS Gateway to automate the entire process and provide timely alerts for tasks and milestones. It has also been integrated with back office applications like the financial system and active directory to extract relevant data.

Public Authority of Kuwait is using the full capabilities of Microsoft SharePoint through features like Search to cut through the clutter of information. A unique combination of relevance and refinement are helping users at the authority to find the information and contacts they need to get their jobs done. With SharePoint 2010 Insights, people can access the information they need to do their best work. Its reporting and analysis features are both powerful and easy to use, and its familiar interfaces make users feel comfortable analysing data.
