SPAM busting product offers hi tech e-link from 'old' technology to provide printed copies for government, bankers, lawyers and marketing specialists
Dubai-based ProNet a leading distributor of systems' solutions has almost reinvented the wheel with a SPAM busting product that has taken tried and tested, albeit dated technology and reintroduced it with the added benefits and convenience of the latest technology.
"myFAX Network Web based hardware Fax Server has been designed to meet the needs of small to medium sized enterprises, by utilising an upgraded network fax server which comes complete with all necessary hardware and software to allow network users to send and receive faxes from their desktop or browser," said Adnan Ghanem, Managing Director, ProNet.
Irrespective of the technological advances witnessed over the last decade, the humble fax still plays an integral role for many organisations. The regional banking sector still demands fax copies whether it is statements, letters or documents, especially where signature verification is required. The same can be said for many legal practices. Also many government departments still insist on fax copies, especially immigration where passport copies with stamped visas are regularly required.
Ed Malkoun, Group Exhibition Director, MECOM 2009, the region's only dedicated communications for enterprise trade show, which concludes today (Wednesday 27 May) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), commented, "These Network Web based hardware fax servers can complement or even outperform E-shots. With spam filters becoming more sophisticated many emails fail to reach their intended recipient regardless of whether they are 'opt in' or 'opt out'. Faxes obviously bypass email servers and so therefore can be more effective, especially when mass mailing marketing material."
The turnkey solution connects to PSTN fax lines, which the network web based hardware fax server converts to PDF or TIFF files allowing users to receive faxes as emails or on their desktop and send faxes from email and send fax from any application that can print. The system provides distributed faxing capabilities over a WAN from a corporate office to small remote offices as well as to field sales people. In addition it provides secure convenient faxing for LAN users offering a high degree of privacy for both the sender and recipient.
Each server comes with up to 4 fax lines and memory of up to 512 MB, accommodating 100 users, with capacity to store up to 8,000 pages. The web-based application supports both shared and private address books and databases.
"The system can also be managed giving individual users account passwords and rights, complete with a fax log, which an administrator can export in excel format to compile management reports," added Ghanem.
Elsewhere at MECOM 2009 the Connect Strategic Telecoms Summit opened
today following the highly successful Telecom Leaders conference which attracted many of the region's industry leaders and telecoms experts such as Abdulaziz Fakhroo, Chairman of GSM Association Arab World and Mohammed Al Ghanim, Director General of the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
The opening address was delivered by Saad Bin Dhafer Al Qahtani, VP Home Business Unit of Saudi Telecom Company, who explained their future business model and identified where growth in the telecoms sector would come from. The keynote presentation was given by Dr. Werner Vogels, VP and CTo of Amazon.com who examined the the challenges when managing the unpredictable behaviour of today's internet business.
The second series of the one-day enterprise seminars also continued today, bringing together operators, service providers and vendors and their enterprise customers. Each individual seminar is dedicated to a specific area of industry such as healthcare, hospitality, banking and finance.
