HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company, received at his office, Afghani Deputy Minister of Commerce, Mr. Dia Addin Dia who was accompanied by a business delegation and His Excellency, Muhammed Kabir Farahi, ambassador of Afghanistan to Saudi. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Ahmed Altobaishi, Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman and Ms. Manal Alshamary from the Protocol Department.
The meeting began as Mr. Dia thanked Prince Alwaleed for giving him the opportunity to meet with him. During the meeting, the two discussed a number of social and economic issues concerning their respective countries. The Deputy Minister said that Saudi-Afghani relations should further develop economically and requested that the Prince invest in his country in the light of Afghanistan's natural resources, minerals, and crude oil. The Deputy Minister handed Prince Alwaleed a document outlining the current economic projects in Afghanistan and said that Afghanistan is undergoing a period of economic and urban development, and is witnessing increased security and stability. The country is aiming to attract potential and influential investors to help with its economic growth.
Moreover, the Deputy Minister acknowledged the strong support and contributions made by the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the people of Afghanistan during the Soviet Union occupation of Afghanistan which lasted 25 years. Mr Dia said that the contributions played a significant role in alleviating the suffering of the Afghani people during that ordeal. In conclusion to the meeting, Mr. Dia reiterated an official invitation from the Afghani President to Prince Alwaleed to visit Afghanistan.
In response, the Prince said that humanitarian contribution and support to alleviate suffering was a duty and thanked the Deputy Minister for the invitation and promised to visit Afghanistan in the near future. HRH also commended the efforts made by the Afghanistan Government to develop the country in all sectors.
