Dubai - Over 1,500 construction workers broke their fast on Monday at a special Iftar organised by Postcard Millionaire, the country's most popular win promotion, in association with Indian Association Dubai (IAD) at a labour camp of a contracting company in Dubai on Monday.

Christian Franzelin, chief executive officer of The Millionaire Company, said,   "Ramadan is a time for people to enjoy togetherness as friends and families around the Iftar meal every day. It is also the time for us to strengthen our connection with the people who support us throughout the year. Through these kind community initiatives, we hope to express our respect and appreciation to the unknown workers and create and sustain a strong connection between the various parts of our society."

Labourers felt that it was an exceptional evening for them. "We normally feel that nobody cares about us and we are not part of the society. But events like these will definitely help us to feel confident," said Abdul Razak, a labourer who attended the Iftar.

"I felt happy and confident after attending the Iftar. I always felt that we labourers are sidelined. But I don't feel that way anymore!" said another invitee.

Also present at the gathering were K V Shankar, Secretary, Indian Association, Devarajan Lohia, brand manager, TMC, Naveed Pirzaada, director client servicing, Concept PR, C S Raghavan, vice president, IAD, Sajeesh Gopalan, director, media relations at Concept PR and Salem Zaheri, senior consultant.
