Dubai, UAE, May 19, 2004 – Philips Electronics and Jordan, a division of Nike Inc., today launched in the Middle East the psa256max Limited Edition Jordan MP3 Player by Philips, the ultimate in portable sports audio.

Targeting active consumers and big-city residents who are defined by style, the device will expand the Philips performance audio range and extend the Jordan brand well beyond apparel and footwear. The new player, which will retail for around AED 950/-, features state-of-the-art technology, including 256MB of memory providing up to four hours of music, and a design that reflects Jordan’s signature combination of sports and style including a sleek, all-black chrome casing with Jordan’s ubiquitous Jumpman logo.

“The Middle East consumer is becoming increasingly demanding regarding both the style and functionality of their entertainment devices. Philips works with the best brands as part of its commitment to delivering a deeper, more complete listening experience to consumers, no matter whether they are at work, at play or at home,” said Khalid Tuer, Regional General Manager, Philips Consumer Electronics MEA.

“Our relationship with Jordan is an excellent opportunity to work with a group that shares the same passion about their brand as we do,” Tuer added. “Working with Jordan allows Philips to align with Michael Jordan, one of the greatest athletes of our time, combining it all with one of the best-selling technologies available.”

Larry Miller, President of Jordan, said, “We know that music inspires and motivates our consumers, and we also know that they accept nothing less than the very best.  Our partnership with Philips makes sense, since design and technology play such a vital role in developing our products.  Of course, it all comes down to performance – and we believe this MP3 player delivers in a way that is reflective of the Jordan brand.”

The MP3 Experience
Designed for movement, the Limited Edition Jordan MP3 Player by Philips features no-look buttons and a remote control providing easy control and wire management clips to keep wires in place and out of the way for optimal performance. Nike-Philips Duro headphones, designed for enhanced listening enjoyment, offer an uninterrupted entertainment experience. For superior audio quality, the player features a custom equalizer as well as four pre-sets (rock, hip hop, funk and techno).

The built-in 256 MB memory allows for users to enjoy up to four hours of uninterrupted music. Users will be able to download their music onto the MP3 player on both PC and Mac formats through a simple USB connection.  Additionally, the player includes iTunes and MUSICMATCH jukebox audio manager software offering easy to use solutions for downloading music from their CDs or from subscription music sites.

For total comfort, the player includes a sweat-resistant armband and waistband extension so the user can customize their experience. The splash-proof player features a backlit LCD and operates for up to 10 hours on one AAA battery.
