Dubai, UAE- In the 1st Annual Last Gadget Standing that took place in Dubai at International CES/Hometech 2008 Exhibition, Philips 3D Displays was voted as the Last Gadget Standing (LGS) after being shortlisted in the final list of the 10 LGS.

Created by Robin Raskin seven years ago, Last Gadget Standing is an annual CES Las Vegas favorite -the world's largest consumer electronics tradeshow. Last Gadget Standing made its debut in Dubai and was hosted by technology expert, author and columnist Robin Raskin. The contest featured 10 of the world's top gadgets competing on stage to be selected as the last gadget standing by the public.

Philips 3D Displays are sold worldwide already. To give some examples, 3D WOW displays are deployed in shopping malls in South Africa. Philips 3D displays are used by Holland Casino and theme park The Efteling (Netherlands). In the US there are many 3D displays installed at for example the Restaurant and Ultra Lounge in Miami and in cinemas in Los Angeles. Our 3D displays are also used in Asia, Russia and China.

There are already movies in 3D, especially for cinemas in the US. Current examples in the cinemas include Beowulf, as well as the show down of the last Harry Potter movie: Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix. Another example is Poseidon from Warner Bros that was filmed in stereo.

Furthermore, much of the content created today already uses a 3D dataset: Animations, games, and other "3D" applications can be shown in 3D and also stereo-filmed video. To support this, 3DS provides a full solution including plug-ins for popular 3D animation packages and an OpenGL tool to visualize your content.
