Muscat: As part of its core principles to train, rehabilitate and advance its human resources, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) is organizing a three-day program titled "Management Values and Job Ethics" for the year 2012. The event kicked off yesterday (Saturday) at Park Inn Hotel under the auspices of Hilal bin Hamad Al Hasani, CEO of PEIE.
The program seeks to provide participants with necessary skills to experience corporate values and enhance the management concept of ethics at workplace.
The three-day program, which is being presented by Mohamed Saddam, expert at the training center of PEIE, attempts to highlight several topics including the concept of public service and work ethics, ways to strengthen the role of values and its importance in achieving quality performance, means to employ the five principles for ethics dominance in the organization (purpose, pride, patience, determination and vision).
Speaking at the event, Mohamed Saddam stressed on the importance of values for both individuals and groups/communities. "As for individuals, values play an essential role in building a person's life and forming his character. They also govern the behaviors and actions of people as well as play a vital role in decision-making. For communities, on the other hand, values help in establishing the concept of cohesion in a society, linking parts of the culture together, representing an ethical framework for all human activities directed towards positive goals, developing a product and deepening the cooperation between the communities on the human level," Saddam pointed out.
Saddam added, "Organizational values reflect the internal characteristics of an institution. In fact, they reflect the philosophy and identity of the institution. The success or failure of the system of values in any institution depends on the extent to which the values of individuals match with the values of institutions, which in turn lead to the integration of organizational goals and objectives of individual staff."
Commenting on the excellence values in outstanding institutions, he underlined that successful organizations are well aware that the basis for their existence depends on several aspects including the quality of services provided to their customers, the quality of life they provide to their employees, the belief of the importance of growth and profits, among other aspects.
