The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) has launched a website dedicated to the national campaign of promoting Omani products. The Origin Oman website comes to complement the role played by the campaign in supporting locally manufactured products, factory owners, businesses, as well as consumers who represent various segments of the society, explains Hamood bin Abdullah Al Balushi, director of Omani Products Department at PEIE.

Al Balushi added, "The website offers visitors a range of electronic services through the link www.originoman.om, which comprises an introduction to the campaign, latest news and calendar of upcoming events. In addition, it provides the opportunity of obtaining a membership, getting the permit to use the logo of Origin Oman campaign, and promoting products through the website. The website has been designed to encourage consumers and organisations to purchase locally manufactured goods and services, promote national pride and loyalty, and emphasise the economic importance of buying local made products and services."

Various services will be added to the website in the coming period as investors and business owners will have access to view tenders offered by the Tender Board, he noted. "Besides, the website will offer an opportunity for the companies to advertise and introduce their products to the various segments of the society. The website will also activate the signed agreement between PEIE and Ministry of Education through a competition dedicated to school students, which will be announced during the coming period," Al Balushi pointed out.

It should be noted that the Origin Oman website comes in line with the objectives of the campaign set by PEIE. The website attempts to generate strong relations between the products and the society as a whole through raising awareness via the modern communication channels.
