Dubai Decorated with Giant Bows and Pink Banners as Part of BurJuman's Safe and Sound Breast Cancer Awareness Program

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Residents of Dubai have been unable to miss BurJuman's latest initiative which has seen streets, roundabouts, parks, bridges, cars and trees adorned with giant bows and pink ribbons.

Marking the ninth consecutive Safe and Sound campaign, BurJuman's aim is to raise national awareness of the disease and they have hence launched a range of initiatives across the UAE which include a walkathon, a fashion show, art exhibitions and musical performances, 'tied' together with pink ribbon.

A total of 260 trees have been adorned with pink bows, banners, flags and signs, as have numerous city landmarks including the BurJuman Mall, the Trade Centre Roundabout, Karama Bridge, Safa Park and Al Diyafa Street. In addition, 'pink' cars driven by 'pink' volunteers have been whizzing across town, delivering pamphlets containing important information on the "do's and don'ts" of self examination.

"We have an important message to get across and we therefore hope that, by 'painting' the town pink, we have made very serious inroads into driving this campaign forward," said Sabina Khandwani, head of PR and marketing, BurJuman.
