Orange Jordan announced that it is expanding the scope of its partnership with Yarmouk University (YU) by integrating the operator's Incubators located at YU's Faculty of Engineering with the renowned Yarmouk University Innovation Lab.

The announcement came during a signing ceremony held recently at the university's premises, which was attended by Orange Jordan's CEO Jean-Francois Thomas and the President of YU Prof. Abdullah Al Mousa.  The event was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at YU, Dr. Adnan Al-Smadi, and the manager of the university's Innovation Lab, Dr. Mwaffaq Otoom.

Under this long-term partnership, Orange Jordan's role will span two primary pillars. The first includes providing the necessary financial support in the development of equipment, licenses, patents and platforms, in addition to sponsoring innovative graduation projects. The second pillar involves training students of the Faculty of Engineering on key focal areas that include technical skills and the development of multi-platform applications.

The President of YU, Prof. Abdullah Al-Musa, emphasized that this agreement comes to demonstrate the university's commitment to cultivate an environment that is conducive to creative thinking and innovation, which will help supply the local and regional job markets with highly skilled professionals in the field of ICT. He also underscored YU's continued efforts to elevate the level of its cooperation with various business sectors in order to help transform Jordan into a leading regional ICT hub.

The management of Orange Jordan explained that this step comes as part of the operator's new strategic vision, Essentials 2020, through which it seeks to play a greater role in training skilled professionals with measurable qualifications in academic research, particularly in tech-related fields. The management also noted that Orange will continue playing an active role in elevating the standards of higher education in the Kingdom by forming strategic partnerships that bridge the gap between academia and local business sectors.

Moreover, the management expressed its confidence that the operations at the incubators will produce positive results by facilitating the translation of ideas into real solutions and services. This will help diversify the choices delivered to Jordanians, while also playing a crucial role in realizing the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who seeks to position Jordan as a leading regional ICT hub.
