Oman Air Training Centre organized recently a training programme for its executives titled, Safety Management System (SMS), at Golden Tulip hotel. The Training Centre organizes and conducts many training programmes for the employees of Oman Air through the year. These training programmes that range from in-depth courses to short-term refresher courses are intended to hone the skills and bring about better productivity among employees.
Under the current scenario where Safety Management System assumes greater importance in every field, this initiative from Oman Air Training Centre to conduct this training was indeed very topical and well-timed.
"We conduct training programmes from time to time to accustom our employees of those departments dealing directly and indirectly with the safety aspects about the various safety expectations and preparedness. The importance of Safety Management System assumes greater significance in the aviation field." Ruqaiya Adams, Training Manager.
Oman Air's training center highlighted that the contents of the training programme included introduction to the Safety Management System (SMS), Management's role in SMS and building a Safety Culture, Integration of the SMS into the business including quality assurance, Rationale for Risk Management and meeting the regulatory requirements, Hazards and Risk Assessment management, Job Descriptions/Competency Assessment, Management Review Board (ISO 9000 and SMS), Change Management (example: Oman Air Introduction of CRJs & A330 in 2009) and Safety Achievement and Safety Promotion.
Corporate Communications & Media Department adds: The Oman Air Training Centre is equipped with the most modern technology and equipment and has an international faculty consisting of experts. The integrated training process also includes bringing in experts on chosen fields from outside for training purposes. The recently concluded short-term training programme on Safety Management System was appreciated very much by the management and the attendees.
