Muscat - Oman American Business Council (OABC) is preparing to hold its third Speed Networking Event to further increase the level of interaction and activity between local businesses. Taking place on the 11th of May at the Grand Hyatt Muscat, the event will introduce attendees to each other in rotation, with each participant given one minute to brief their counterpart on their company and explore the potential for collaboration between their businesses.

"Every event boosts our Membership List, as businesses and enterprises are not only offering their services, but seeking strategic cooperation that can deliver a new avenue of growth for their operation. Our last networking event hosted over 100 participants," said Garry Friend, Vice President of OABC's Board of Directors, and General Manager of the Grand Hyatt Muscat.

Friend added, "This time we will try to attract more SMEs to attend this event in line with our recent launch of SME Memberships is directed towards supporting the growing level of SME activity and participation in local business. As Oman continues to diversify its economy, SMEs are playing an important role in supporting the growth of a broad range of companies, therefore it is essential that they are able to enhance their operation with reliable and professional services that meet all expectations. Our platform can certainly contribute to this, and we have already received some outstanding feedback from our new and existing members."

OABC's supports the formation of business partnerships by helping local companies to build an extensive network of contacts within a short period of time. There will be an additional post-event gathering, offering attendees the opportunity to reconnect and explore new prospects in greater detail.

Representing one of the event's sponsors was Hamed Mohamed Al Harthy, Country Manager of Oman at Oman Air, who said, "Fostering commercial activity in this way is exemplary, and something that local markets have already benefitted from across a number of industries. OABC's exchange of knowledge on best practices, for example, provides direct benefits for businesses of all sizes, be it an SME or a multi-national organization. Through such a diverse and plentiful range of events, members of OABC are able to learn and grow together as the backbone of the national economy."

Unlike previous networking sessions, the time for interaction will be reduced to ensure an efficient and impactful pitch of each business is made by its representative. OABC has lowered the initial meeting time from three minutes to one minute, with the aim of refining the communication skills of attendees. Oman Radio Presenter Adam Cole will be moderating at the event, and later sharing some insight on how to deliver such information effectively.

The Speed Networking Event is open to the public, and interested companies can register by contacting galina.prokhina@oabcoman.org. OABC Members can attend the event free of charge and non-members can take part for OMR 10, payable in advance.
