Do you know someone whose goodness knows no limits?

Abu Dhabi; 6 October 2006: Today marks the opening of nominations for the 2006 Abu Dhabi Awards.

Nominations can be made until Wednesday 1 November 2006, giving people across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi the chance to share in the goodwill of others by honouring those who have shown goodness that knows no limits.

Through the commitment of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to preserve the legacy of our Nation's late father and through the auspices of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Awards recognize and celebrate those who have demonstrated exemplary acts of devotion, compassion and generosity in building a greater sense of community and social welfare within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Maryam Amiri, spokesperson of the 2006 Abu Dhabi Awards commented; "The response to last year's call to nominate was both heart warming and encouraging with over 8,000 nominations received. This year we would like to see even more people honouring those who have contributed selflessly to the community of Abu Dhabi. We believe that by celebrating people in this way, the Awards raise awareness of the value of such contributions and in turn encourage others to make similar contributions."

All that is required is the completion of a simple nomination form that can be registered in the following ways:

  • Use one of the many nomination forms being delivered to homes across the Emirate.  This can be returned by post, fax or by placing it in the collection boxes placed at the nomination stations

  • Go to the numerous nomination stations across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi - and look out for our roving nomination stations

  • Register your nomination by dialing the telephone nomination hotline - 800 3331

  • Register your nomination online at www.abudhabiawards.ae

  • Fill in the nomination form and fax it to - 800 6400

Once the nomination period closes on November 1st, all nominations will be reviewed and assessed individually.

"It is important to remember when nominating that it is not about how many nominations a person gets.  It's the quality of their contribution that counts."  Said Ms Amiri. "To win, a person need only get one nomination that demonstrates a truly significant act."

The winning individuals will be announced at a spectacular Awards ceremony to be held at the Emirates Palace in early December 2006 and televised by Abu Dhabi Television.
