Three Nokia Nseries multimedia computers are presented for the first time in the MEA region and only the second time globally

Dubai, UAE - Nokia, the leader in mobile communications, extended its multimedia convergence strategy by presenting three new Nokia Nseries multimedia computers - the Nokia N71, Nokia N80 and Nokia N92 - for the first time in the Middle East. The Nokia Nseries, purpose built to incorporate data, video, entertainment and voice in a single device, offers stylish and easy-to-use devices that have defined a whole new product category.

Held during the region's first "Nokia Nseries Experience" event that brought more than 200 channel distributors, industry experts and media from Europe, the Middle East and Africa together in Dubai, the gathering was only the second time anywhere in the world that the phones were presented.

"Nokia continues its tradition of leading the industry in both its vision for the future direction of the converged multimedia market and in developing the phones people use to live this new world where voice, information technology, enterprise applications, broadcasting, music and imaging, all are at hand virtually anywhere, in a pocketable multimedia computer," said Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Multimedia Business Unit, Nokia Corporation.

Vanjoki hosted the event, which featured a number of first-of-a-kind presentations by senior Nokia executives demonstrating the power of Nokia's latest devices - including the world's first mobile device with a built-in DVB-H receiver for live TV viewing and the world's first handset to feature universal plug-and-play technology.

The Nokia Nseries combines latest technologies, such as 3G, WLAN, megapixel cameras, large gigabyte memory and high-resolution video, and Nokia's commitment to convergence has resulted in it becoming the world's largest manufacturer of digital camera devices and digital music players.

Topics addressed during the conference included a discussion by Anthony Dalby, Senior Design Manager, of how the Nokia Nseries device, which are like handheld multimedia computers, are blurring the line between mobile devices and computers. The Nokia Nseries devices also blend the latest technology with high-quality materials like stainless steel.

Mikko Pilkama, Director, Business Strategy, made a presentation exploring how mobile camera devices have a unique ability to allow users to capture and share experiences spontaneously with high-quality images. He presented data showing that last year approximately 215 million camera phones were sold worldwide and that by the end of 2005, Nokia expects the camera phone market to outnumber the digital camera market by four fold.

A talk by Mike Butler, Vice President, Total Offer Solutions, offered a study into how all Nokia Nseries owners have access to a powerful set of features that make it easy to enjoy digital content such as music, photographs, and video. These portable multimedia devices are ushering in a revolution in how people consume digital content. Connectivity options like WLAN put these devices at the centre of a connected multimedia experience, especially in new environments like the home.

Mobile TV and its ability to deliver television-like content through a mobile device was the focus of a presentation by Juha Lipi?nen, Director, Business Strategy. From news bulletins and market updates to favourite soap operas and sports news, TV content is coming soon to mobile devices, he observed.

Nokia N71
The latest member of the Nokia XpressMusic family, the Nokia N71 is a pocket-sized entertainment system complete with stereo FM radio and support for digital music and videos. The Nokia N71 also features the new Nokia Web Browser with Mini Map. This allows a semi-transparent, zoomed-out view of a web page, so that users can quickly orientate themselves on a handset screen.Nokia N80

Equipped with WLAN and 3G, the Nokia N80 is the world's first handset to feature universal plug-and-play (UPnP) technology. This allows it to be used as a remote control for wirelessly swapping content between compatible PCs, audio equipment and TVs. Images and video stored on the Nokia N80 or on a compatible PC can be viewed on a TV, for instance, while music stored on the device can be played through an audio system. Nokia N80 users can also print wirelessly to any UPnP-enabled printer. In addition, the Nokia N80 supports most commonly used email solutions and office-application formats.

Nokia N92
The Nokia N92 is the world's first mobile device with a built-in DVB-H receiver, making it possible for users to watch and record live TV at any time. Based on open standards, DVB-H is the leading mobile-TV broadcasting technology, enabling low-cost delivery of high-quality broadcast programs to mass audiences.

The Nokia N92 features applications and functionalities that make it easy for users to watch and search for TV programs, create personal channel lists, subscribe to TV-channel packages, set program reminders and access interactive TV services. The ergonomic form factor includes media keys, a view mode and a large (2.8-inch) anti-glare QVGA screen supporting 16 million colors.
