Nokia Middle East today announced it would launch its latest mobile, the Nokia 3100, in the third quarter of 2003. Encouraging individuality and self-expression, the Nokia 3100 offers a large color screen, MMS* functionality and game features, with expressive colored covers crafted of unique translucent materials and graphics.  Weighing a mere 85 grams, the tri-band Nokia 3100 phone operates on GSM 900/1800/1900 bands.

Nokia also introduced a number of complementary lifestyle enhancements to accompany the Nokia 3100, including the Nokia Fun Camera, a stand-alone VGA camera with its own viewfinder, flash and power supply. With 8 MB of memory, the Nokia Fun Camera can store up to 50 images, and can be attached to compatible Nokia phones with a Pop-Port(TM) connector. The Pop-Port connectivity of the Nokia 3100 enables users to add an exciting array of enhancements, including the Nokia Radio Headset, also announced today. This combination stereo FM radio with display and headset simply clips onto a lapel or slips into a shirt pocket.

“The Nokia 3100 and its enhancements are designed for people with strong personal identities,” said Zsolt Menesi, Marketing Manager at Nokia Middle East. “We have created a vast array of options to help tailor the 3100 to almost any taste. What’s more, the functional options will allow people to physically upgrade their mobiles to enable easier access to some features and overall, provide greater enjoyment and satisfaction.”

The Nokia 3100's keypad, 4-way rocker and a 128x128 high resolution colour display will offer consumers an enhanced game play experience.  Pre-loaded Java(TM) game titles include Snake EX2, Bowling and Beach Rally. With a wide array of titles available for download, additional Java applications are mere keystrokes away.

Pre-installed animated screen savers bring the Nokia 3100's color screen to life. Additional screensavers, as well as ringing tones and game downloads, are available from the local Nokia Shop website: www.nokia.com/shop. The Nokia 3100 features an XHTML browser to make surfing mobile services a richer experience. In addition to text, services can also include colorful pictures, animations and frames. A link to the new nokia.com mobile site, which features content optimized for XHTML, is available in the Nokia 3100.

The Nokia 3100 is the first Nokia phone to offer a new generation of Xpress-on(TM) gaming cover enhancements.  Sold separately, the Xpress-on gaming cover features "electroluminescence" - special light effects that sparkle through translucent faceplates in rhythm with ringing tones, games, alarm and other phone functions.  Featuring an 8-way rocker, the Xpress-on gaming cover offers an advanced gameplay experience and incorporates electroluminescent light effects in sync with specific games.
