Flexible flatbed scanner can be used alone or connected to any Xerox DocuMate ADF scanner

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 16 June 2009 - Xerox Corporation, the leading document management technology and services enterprise launched today the Xerox DocuMate® 700, an 11" x 17" flatbed scanner with a built-in USB hub. The hub enables the DocuMate 700 to be connected directly to a PC and used as a stand-alone flatbed scanner or it can be connected through its USB port to an existing sheet-fed scanner for added functionality.

"Adding new functionality to an already valuable office product is just smart business, especially during challenging economic times," said Dan Smith, Manager for Integrated Marketing for the Middle East and Africa region of Xerox's Developing Markets Operations. "The Xerox DocuMate 700 is a powerful tool as a stand-alone scanner, and it's a great add-on product for any DocuMate scanner that you already own.  Now there is no need to install numerous flatbed scanners across a network if the majority of users do not require this function on a frequent basis. You now have a new option to simply add flatbed capability to your existing set-up, saving you time and money."

The Xerox DocuMate 700 has a generous flatbed that enables users to scan large documents up to 11" x 17" size.  It offers users the option to scan a wide variety of documents, such as books, magazines, plastic cards and fragile paper. Powered by Visioneer OneTouch® technology, the scanner allows users to scan to the "destination" of their choice by pressing a single button, eliminating multiple steps usually required to save scanned documents in popular file formats. The DocuMate 700 can scan documents to nine preset and completely configurable destinations. The scanner includes Kofax VRS, Nuance PaperPort and OmniPage Pro OCR for converting high volumes of paper and forms into files that can be searched and edited.

The Xerox DocuMate 700 scanner has the ability to instantly scan a document into a searchable PDF file and send it to one of the many ECM applications for which Visioneer has developed links, including Xerox DocuShare®, ScanFlow® Store, Docuware®, Microsoft SharePoint®, Kofax Ascent® Collection Server, EMC Captiva® QuickScan Pro®, FileBound®, Laserfiche® and/or to devices such as printers and networked storage systems in just one touch.

The Xerox DocuMate 700 scanner is priced at US$995 and is available throughout the Middle East through Xerox channel partners and major resellers.
