Dubai: New Technology Systems L.L.C. (NTS), the software development arm of Intertec Systems group, has developed ‘Sales Forecasting and Order Processing (SFOP) software’ for management of demand and supply chain in ‘Food Products & Pharmaceutical Distribution Companies’.
 
SFOP is an ideal solution for organisations that operate through distributors in different countries or within the same country.  “In such organisations the sales department is responsible for ensuring that optimum stock levels are maintained with distributors to achieve target results. A well-defined sales and order-forecasting system is therefore essential,” said Naresh Kothari, Managing Director, Intertec Systems.
 
The SFOP solution enables automation of the common business processes, like data transfer, sales forecasting, order processing and order monitoring of a company’s products sold by its distributors.
 
Sub-modules take care of a range of supply and distribution chain functions, including the issue of requests for sales and stock data from distributors on a periodical basis. Based on data from distributors, a set of forecasts can be made by companies using SFOP. Initial budgets can undergo number of iterations to modify the forecast based on seasonal demand factors, customer preferences, location preferences, and past trends observed on the product or category or brand for that distributor.
 
Marketing experts in the organisation can further evaluate the demand requirements and make modifications, if necessary, based on the trends and expectations of business in the near future. The order forecast of different distributors will also aid the consolidation of orders to a manufacturer taking into account the pallet load, supplier capability, lead time to ship, move and deliver the cargo at consuming point, among other factors. Here the ‘Order Quantity’ (OQ) is worked out based on known parameters built into the system, while retaining the intelligence factor of the ordering team.
 
SFOP also monitors the stages in the execution of the order, such as confirmation of production from supplier, receipt of samples, approval of samples, confirmation of shipment, forwarding of shipment details for insurance cover and the of invoices to distributor. Each one of these stages is identified by a modifiable lead-time.
 
Once the goods are on the way, or have reached the distributor, the billing process for collection of dues as well as adjustments needed with the distributor is taken care by SFOP interface with Intertec Financials - an ERP solution also developed by NTS. The software enables the provision of current information on kind of stock available with any distributor, the stock under order, the status of stock delivery and data on stock nearing expiry.
