Huawei links with government and business leaders at BITEX 2016 to assess how Internet of Things will usher in smarter, safer public services to improve quality of life

Manama, Bahrain: With Bahrain's information and communications technology (ICT) sector quickly maturing, Huawei--a leading global ICT solutions provider--is connecting with top government and business authorities next week to examine how new ICT innovations are set to improve both the effectiveness and efficiency of public safety systems. Those discussions are taking center stage at next week's BITEX 2016 being held at the Gulf Convention Centre from January 4-6, 2016.

The three-day BITEX 2016 event will be held alongside the MEET ICT Conference and will bring top global technology companies under one roof to display the latest trends in their field while strengthening the potential that exists within Bahrain's ICT sector. In particular, cities across the region are placing greater emphasis on intelligent public safety solutions for incident prevention, emergency response and video-analysis, all of which are powered by more reliable communication systems & devices.

As part of BITEX 2016, a delegation of regional Huawei experts will be in Bahrain to share insights about how these end-to-end public safety solutions are now being reimagined alongside the expanding boundaries of the Internet of Things. According to Huawei, integrating secure and fast connectivity into large-scale organizations in Bahrain will also enable seamless communication for optimizing business services, reducing the environmental impact of local industry, and assisting public officials in making real-time decisions.

"Cities across the region are already becoming more intelligent and interconnected, changing the way that citizens and governments interact," commented Wu Pengguang, Deputy Country Manager at Huawei Technologies Bahrain SPC. "To meet these shared ambitions for the future, we are thrilled to be joining partners this week to advance a vision for safer cities and how open, flexible and pervasive ICT systems can make a real difference to businesses in Bahrain."

The company is in turn leading a full program of activities at BITEX 2016 showcasing how organizations can mitigate public safety challenges and enable a smarter Kingdom through stronger unified communications and convergence solutions, Internet of things, cloud-based computing and data centers, network security technologies and intelligent consumer devices.

Experts at BMI Research have recently predicted that IT application spending by Bahrain's public and private sector will grow through modernization initiatives over the medium term, while cyber security solutions are expected to outperform due to heightened regional risks. There is also growing demand from the financial services and telecommunications verticals in particular, especially for cloud computing and other advanced solutions[1].

With an unparalleled heritage in ICT research & development, Huawei is ideally placed to make the Middle East cities of tomorrow a reality. All of Huawei's latest solutions and products can be found in BITEX 2016.
