Deira gets first new international five-star hotel in a decade

Deira, Old Dubai, UAE, January 24 2011: Dubai's commercial hub, Deira has its first new international five-star accommodation in more than ten years with the opening of the Mövenpick Hotel Deira, according to general manger, Michael Nugent.

He said that the 216-room property is already filling a demand for affordable upscale accommodation in Deira by business executives, as well as destination travellers and inquisitive shoppers.

"While Dubai has been on a building boom, Deira's five-star hospitality sector has been somewhat stagnant and we mean to fill this void by bringing in some new energy."

He said that Deira's development continues along with the greater destination, and the Mövenpick Hotel Deira is a fine example of the Emirate's ongoing hustle and bustle.

The hotel is located at the heart of Old Dubai's early commercial district on the north side of the city's arterial waterway, Dubai Creek - a brisk 20 minutes walk from the hotel.

"Deira houses many official departments which remain key stop-off points for those who have earmarked Dubai as part of their business playing field. They are all a short car journey away from the hotel - indeed some can be reach by foot," Nugent said.

He also noted that Deira is home to many of Dubai's destination highlights making it a great rendezvous for inquisitive holidaymakers, destination travellers and shoppers.

Rest, in the hotel and on the beach
"We also give you a beach," said Nugent. "A private beach club, Oceana Beach Club and a New York-influenced Grill and Bar, West 14th, are located on The Palm Jumeirah for a taste of the sun, sea and surf."

The complimentary hotel bus shuttles to and from the beachside rest and relaxation haven throughout the day.

Meeting for business
The Mövenpick Hotel Deira is also thoughtfully equipped with seven meeting facilities designed with daylight features for private meetings and events for up to 90.

Meanwhile, instant Wi-Fi on log-in throughout the hotel's public areas gives swift global connectivity and the Business Services team are available around-the-clock - and give true service, not lip-service to administration support.

As the global hospitality industry continues to ponder the pace of business, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, in partnership with real estate developer, Seven Tides, prepares for the opening of more than 1,200 rooms over four properties in Dubai, UAE.

This includes the 216-room Mövenpick Hotel Deira which opened in January 2011 to offer an efficient welcome to visiting business executives, inquisitive shoppers, small meeting groups and lunch & dinner time diners in Dubai's traditional locale of Deira on the north-side of the Creek from January.

Also within the pack of four is the 396-room Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel, a property of iconic stature both inside and out, which is cleverly inspired by the journeys of the 14th century Arabian explorer, Ibn Battuta himself. The hotel is located in 'New Dubai' and opened its doors to business travellers, holidaymakers and destination tourists in October 2010.

Meanwhile, the Asian-inspired Royal Amwaj Resort & Spa on Palm Jumeirah will be open later in 2011. At first glance, the 293-room retreat-like resort seems to be playing a credible tune as it blows its own trumpet by announcing some 'industry firsts', including an upscale all-inclusive package available through preferred travel partners.

2011 will also see the pack complete with opening of the contemporary Oceana Hotel & Spa. Seven Tides' second property located on Dubai's Palm Jumeirah will open 324 rooms on the heels of the Oceana Beach Club and restaurant-bar venue, West 14th, the New-York Grill and Bar. Both the club and the restaurant opened for business during the summer of 2010 and like the hotel are set to deliver great family entertainment.
