QBRI and Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Journals join forces to publish biomedical journal

Doha, 29 January 2014 - Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Journals (BQFJ) and Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), a member of Qatar Foundation Research and Development (QF R&D), today launched Advances in Applied Biomedicine, a new, peer-reviewed, biomedical journal on QScience.com, the digital publishing portal for academic research journals.

The journal publishes original research, reviews and editorials, and will also publish occasional thematic issues focusing on one aspect of translational biotechnology. It offers a unique opportunity for researchers, conducting multidisciplinary biomedical research that goes beyond the traditional borders of basic research and applied research, to have their work published. The journal's editors give special consideration to articles that demonstrate a blend of basic and applied research expertise (translational and clinical). The journal's content is 'open access', meaning it is free to read online and authors retain copyright of their work.

Dr Abdelali Haoudi, Executive Director of QBRI, is the founder and editor-in-chief of Advances in Applied Biomedicine.  "The journal publishes basic and applied research reports with a special focus on translational research in biomedicine and biotechnology," said Dr Haoudi. "A special focus will be given to reports and articles addressing innovative aspects in personalised and precision medicine. In addition, there will be a range of specialised content including product development, toxicology studies, quality systems, clinical trial support, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance, among other subjects," he added.

The launch of the journal is an important step in QF R&D and QBRI's mission to impact the global research community by encouraging multidisciplinary research and demonstrating its effectiveness.

Arend Küster, Managing Director of Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Journals, said: "We are excited to be launching Advances in Applied Biomedicine, as it fills a unique niche by highlighting collaborative, cross-cutting biomedical research. Biomedical research and technologies are constantly evolving, and we are hoping that this journal will further research and provide a platform for scholarly discourse and discussion."

He added: "It is critically important that breakthroughs in biomedical research are available to all quickly, so the journal's open access policy is a big plus for researchers around the world. This partnership between QScience and QBRI will have wide-ranging impact for many years to come."
