More than 10,000 energy saving bulbs distributed

Al Baqer: NBK's initiative aims to raise people's awareness and promote sustainable practices in society

National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) successfully concluded its energy saving awareness campaign "Put your energy into saving energy", distributing more than 10,000 long life energy-saving light bulbs free to the public at the Avenues recently.

The awareness drive, which is part of NBK's ongoing 'Think Twice' environmental campaign, aimed to promote sustainable practices and motivate people to take advantage of the energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs freely distributed during the event by volunteers mainly comprised from NBK staff and summer interns of NBK Summer Training Program. Educational brochures were also distributed to the public while the mall aisles were packed with large banners on saving energy.

Commenting on the occasion, NBK Public Relations Officer Yaqoub Al Baqer said that NBK is very committed to the cause of energy conservation. "We decided to make the Avenues our launching pad as all age groups visit the mall regularly."

"We wanted to promote sustainable practices in society by motivating people to take advantage of the freely distributed long-life light bulbs that can have an incredibly positive impact on electricity conservation. The distributed bulbs last 10 times longer and use one-third of the energy of regular incandescent bulbs, in addition to the added savings of less frequent bulb replacement," Al Baqer added.

"This is the fourth successful year of our 'Think Twice' campaign. We believe that leading financial institutions and the public are destined to work together to make a better future for Kuwait. Conservation and awareness is not a one-way street. We all need to combine our efforts to conserve and rationalize," Al Baqer concluded.
