National group exhibitor commitment for the second in the series of international exhibitions for Libya's infrastructure and energy sectors, Projex Libya 2007, has more than doubled from last year's highly successful debut event.
This follows Libya's recently announced National Economic Strategy which calls for multi-billion dollar investment across all sectors and which is providing growing opportunities for the international export community.
Country pavilions are scheduled for participation from at least ten of the world's leading technology export nations. They are all looking to demonstrate their expertise relevant to Libya's economic development at Projex Libya 2007 which will run from 10 to 13 December 2007 at the Tripoli International Fairground.
The countries are Canada, China, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Japan, Malta, Poland, UK and the USA, and others are in the pipeline.
Leading the pack and aiming to significantly increase the size of its participation from last year is the US Department of Commerce which has again granted Projex Libya its official Trade Fair Certification status. US companies will benefit from prime locations in both the infrastructure and energy sections of the event and are on course for being part of the biggest national group at the exhibition with more than 30 participants.
British exhibitors will benefit from the support of the United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI) commercial team in Tripoli. They are encouraging British companies with a presence in Libya, also those which are seeking market entry, to join the British Technology and Expertise Pavilion. Commitments have already been accepted from companies addressing the industrial products and training sectors. Companies from the Ports and Terminals Group of the Society of Maritime Industries are also forming a group.
The Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) sent a special envoy to evaluate the exhibition last year and have since placed an option on space in the energy section for a group of oil and gas equipment manufacturers and service companies.
Italy, which has strong trading links with Libya, will be well represented by pavilions supported the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE), as well as regional export trade bodies from Lazio and Sicily. Their exhibits will major on building products and materials, as well as construction and agricultural machinery.
The Hellenic Export Promotion Council have placed Projex Libya on their official programme and are coordinating a pavilion of companies involved in the field of construction materials.
These are in addition to individual companies from many other countries including France, Germany, South Africa, Turkey and the UAE.
The biggest national participation is expected from Libya itself. Manufacturers, suppliers and trading companies will not only be displaying their technology and expertise to the thousands of specialised visitors attending the exhibition, but also looking to interface with the international participants to develop business relationships and discuss joint-venture opportunities.
Specific to the energy sector, more than 40 international oil companies have opened offices and facilities in Tripoli following the recent bidding rounds for oil exploration acreage. Many of these, along with equipment service suppliers to the country's energy sector, are now making their plans for participation in Projex Libya.
"We are now building on the success of last year's event" said Sandy Angus, Chairman of the joint organisers Montgomery Libya Ltd and who are responsible for international marketing. "We are delighted that so many national governments can see the opportunities in the Libyan market and are keen to capitalise on them through Projex Libya. We as company have taken a long term view of our commitment to Libya and are pleased by the international response to this event which we believe is playing an important role in the development of Libya's economy and social structure"
Projex Libya comprises two exhibitions providing the international export community with access to Libya's priority market sectors:
