Senior ENT consultant joins MPH
With more than 22 years experience as a senior consultant and head of ENT department at Al Nahdha Hospital, as chief and as chief of ENT services at the Ministry of Health, Dr Kishore now takes on a new role at the Muscat Private Hospital (MPH) as a senior consultant.
The otolaryngology (as it is now commonly referred to) set up at MPH includes a start-of-the-art microscope and whole set up for endoscopic sinus surgery. The service also offers a whole range of surgical procedures for various ear diseases including surgery for chronic infections and hearing restoration. Children commonly suffer from ENT problems like disease of tonsils, adenoids, fluid in the middle ear etc and all the surgical procedures like tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy are carried out here.
"Dr Kishore brings with him a wealth of experience from his practice. Patients need to base their decisions on best current knowledge, wherever and whenever those decisions are made. The need to access this knowledge in the field of ENT has never been greater, and this facility that we offer at MPH coupled with Dr Kishore's expertise will result only in the best possible cure and care," said Gerard Strong, hospital director, Muscat Private Hospital.
Dr. Kishore earned all his post-graduate qualifications in ear, nose and throat from the United Kingdom, and was a lecturer at the University of Liverpool in the North of England. He came to Oman in 1974 and introduced the first ENT service in the country at Al Rahmah Hospital. As the demand for ENT services grew, the department was moved to Al Nahdha Hospital, which it is still the main referral centre for the people in the sultanate. A then senior lecturer at Sultan Qaboos University, Dr Kishore's endless efforts was recognized by the government and he was honoured with a Civil Service Award and Omani citizenship.
