* Flowers spot lit on a table are a quick and easy way of decorating a bare wall or corner as well as adding freshness and scent to the room.

* Ensure that your lighting plan is kept as versatile as possible with separate switching and dimmers.

* Stencils are a cheap and easy way of adding detail to walls, ceilings, floors, joinery and furniture.

* Move furniture around from season to season; alter cushions and covers creating different looks.

* Cushions and throw rugs are a quick way of adding detail, texture and colour to a room as well as helping to reduce reflective sound. They make the room more homely and give a feeling of comfort and warmth.

* When purchasing new furniture, think long term. It is easier to change the style of your accessories than large items like a sofa. For example, using bright bold upholstery fabric on the sofa may be just what you love now, but next year you probably won't be able to stand the sight of it - an expensive item to change.

* If you want to disguise an ugly fixture in a room, for example fitted cupboards, paint it the same colour as the walls and it will no longer stand out.

* When selecting colours, always remember that the final colour will look different than the sample. If possible request a large sample - Muraspec provide A4-sized samples of wallcoverings - and view it in the desired space.

Muraspec is the largest wallcoverings supplier in the Middle East. The latest designs can be browsed alongside Muraspec's complete product range on the recently launched Muraselector, a CD-Rom based sampling system, which enables professionals to link wallcoverings to achievable in-room effects for the first time.
