BP Oman President to discuss project management basics and analyse real-world scenarios with participants of Promising Leaders Program
Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development (MBRPLD), an innovative leadership program designed to develop future national leaders capable of promoting the sustainable development of Dubai, has announced that it will hold today (November 02, 2008) a new session for The Spectators Forum dubbed "Project Management and Lessons Learnt from the BTC Pipeline." MBRPLD has invited Michael Townsend, President of BP Oman, as the keynote speaker of the Forum being held at the Royal Mirage - Arabian Court in Dubai.
The Spectators Forum is one of the periodic activities under MBRPLD's Promising Leaders Program, aiming to empower the participants to discuss local, regional and global points of view on the operational policies, challenges and opportunities faced by leaders as they aim to achieve sustainable development. The Promising Leaders Program is a level of MBRPLD that seeks to qualify young leaders through training programs and workshops in line with the strategic plans and aspirations of Dubai.

Michael Townsend, who holds an honours degree in Engineering and an MBA with distinction, has held various senior roles with BP since 1979. Prior to being appointed President of BP Oman, Townsend was based in Baku, Azerbaijan where he was the CEO for the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline from 2001-2006, overseeing all of BP's onshore upstream projects and operations in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
Promising Leaders program aims to prepare a vital, elite and strategic professional manpower reserve that is capable of sustaining the leadership requirements of Dubai Government in line with its strategic plan and international and regional aspirations. Participants undergo a 24-month training program developed by MBRPLD.
MBRPLD is a unique leadership development program designed to develop the professional expertise of prospective and incumbent leaders in Dubai and the UAE. It has likewise been established to ensure long-term, systemised leadership development in line with the Dubai's long-term strategic plan.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development (MBRPLD) is an innovative leadership program designed to develop future national leaders capable of promoting the sustainable development of the United Arab Emirates. The long-term training program, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, consists of four programs: Young Leaders, Promising Leaders, Government Leaders, and the Director General Majlis Program.
The MBRPLD strategy, which involves scouting the country for the most promising young nationals and preparing them to take charge of the UAE's future development initiatives, has been widely recognized for its critical role in the professional development of current government leaders.
