Increased demand for industrial lands in Jeddah Governorate

H. E. Abdullah Ahmed Zainal, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of MODON signed a contract worth SR 277 million riyals for the development of the Jeddah 3rd. Industrial City, in the presence of the Director General of MODON, Dr. Tawfig bin Fawzan Alrabiah, to develop the first phase on an area of ten million square meters. The total area of the industrial city amounts to twenty million square meters. The scope of the development project includes roads, sidewalks network, lighting and electricity networks, floods networks and service lanes. The execution period of the project is 24 months.

"MODON" started the development of Jeddah 3rd. because of increased demand for industrial lands in Jeddah Governorate, where in Jeddah 2nd. Industrial City lands have been allocated and a major part of the development has been completed. Some factories have also been constructed during the development period. This is a strong indicator of industrial progress witnessed by the Kingdom and an indicator that "MODON" keeps up with the increased demand for industrial lands.

Jeddah 3rd. Industrial City is located south of the city of Jeddah on Al-Laith Road, 35 km away from Jeddah 1st, and 2 km away from Jeddah 2nd. MODON has announced tenders for other projects to complete the development of the industrial city; wherein it announced the development of 380 KW transmission station, road linking the city with Al-Laith Road on a free movement bridge. It is also expected to tender more projects during the next year to complete the total infrastructure of the industrial city.

Jeddah 3rd. Industrial City is characterized by a unique design to the highest international standards. Support areas of large plots have been allocated for residential, commercial and logistical projects. The city will include areas for the petroleum, metal and plastic and food industries, vehicles, building materials and other projects.

On this occasion, Dr. Tawfig Alrabiah said that "MODON" announced a week ago the commencement of the development of the 3rd. Industrial City in Dammam on an area equal to 48 million meters. MODON had previously announced the commencement of the development of industrial cities in Zulfi, Shaqrra and expansion of Assir, while this week we announce the development of Jeddah 3rd. Industrial City. The plans and designs of industrial cities in Jeddah and Dammam have been prepared by specialized major international companies and we are now witnessing the start of its development works. Such accomplishment has been achieved by the grace of Allah and by the directives of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques that has industry made the industry a strategic choice for the development of the Kingdom's regions and diversifying the sources of income and localization of the modern technologies as well as provision of jobs for the national cadres.

Dr. Alrabiah added: Investors should seize the opportunity and apply for obtaining industrial and service lands and benefit from the incentives and facilities offered by the country, the most important of these incentives is the provision of the industrial lands in all the regions of the Kingdom at promotional rates.

It is worth mentioning that MODON oversees three industrial cities in Makkah to include Makkah industrial City, Jeddah 1st. and 2nd. industrial cities, while there is a project to be tendered for the development of Taif Industrial City.

It is worth mentioning that MODON currently oversees 20 industrial cities existing in different regions of Saudi Arabia (Riyadh 1st. and 2nd., Jeddah 1st. and 2nd., Dammam 1st. and 2nd., Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, Al-Ahsa, Assir, Al-Jouf, Tabuk, Hail, Najran, Jazan, Al-Kharj and Ar'ar, in addition to Sudair City for Industry and Business, and Rabigh complex for plastic industries). The industrial cities are regarded as the infrastructure to accommodate industrial projects which have contributed to the accommodation of 3000 industrial projects, which represent 60% of the Saudi factories with investments exceeding 250 billion riyals.
