Exclusive content, tickets, more coming to customers

Mobily announced today that it had become Spanish soccer club FC Barcelona's official telecommunications partner after being added to an existing agreement between Etisalat and the club.

According to the terms of the agreement, which lasts for three seasons, Mobily can now start using FC Barcelona's logo in its advertising campaigns and likewise Mobily's logo will be featured at FC Barcelona events. Additional benefits include content from the club, allowing Mobily customers to engage the FC Barcelona team in friendly matches.

Khalid Al Kaf, Mobily's managing director and Chief Executive Officer: "The agreement further strengthens our brand by having there in the European and the international sports arena in the hearts and minds of the wide base club's fans inside the Kingdom and abroad. As we all know, FC Barcelona ha, according to it official's rosters, the largest fan base in the world."

Ahmed Abdulkareem Julfar, Etisalat  Group Chief Operations Officer, said: "We are pleased to have Mobily included in this agreement with FC Barcelona. We know that sports in general and football specifically are of high interest to Mobily's customer base in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We are also keen on sharing these exclusive benefits with Etisalat's operations in different countries. It is agreements like this that allow us to bring unique value to the lives of our customers. We look forward to sharing similar benefits with Etisalat's other operations."

Sandro Rosell, President of FC Barcelona: "As an international club, we are pleased to have another Etisalat family member come on board with us, as Mobily is well known in the Kingdom of Saudi for supporting football there. There is no doubt that Mobily can add tremendous value to our existing agreement with Etisalat by increasing the spread of our presence to reach more of our fans."

Etisalat signed a four-year long strategic partnership agreement with FC Barcelona in February 2009, valued at 12 million euro. According to the terms of the agreement, Etisalat has the right to extend the exclusive benefits it has from this agreement to any of its 17 operations across the world. Among these exclusive benefits are using the club's logo, tickets to matches, FC Barcelona web content, rights to re-use video content on mobile phones on 3G networks.
