Amman 28th July 2001

In its ongoing effort to empower customers with the most advanced and simple to use mobile information services, MobileCom today announced the availability of Clickit, a highly advanced info-on-demand service that sends the information as an SMS to a user with a simple click of a mobile phone key. Clickit offers users a variety of news and information that is delivered to the mobile phone to keep users informed while on the move.

Clickit is a revolutionary new service from MobileCom which allows its customers to benefit from a wide variety of information that helps our customers stay informed through their mobile phone, said Dr.Henry Azzam, chairman of MobileCom. Clickit is unique in that it is the first time in the world that such a service is launched based on SIM Tool Kit (STK) technology and remotely upgrades MobileCom customers SIM cards without the customer having to visit the MobileCom offices. We are very pleased to be launching this service today and we promise our customers to continue delivering highly advanced services such as Clickit to make their mobile experience a truly enriching experience.

Clickit info-on-demand service was deployed remotely because MobileCom uses SIM cards that supports STK and OTA technologies, which do not require customers to visit MobileCom offices and exchange their SIM cards for a new one.

All MobileCom customers who use STK enabled mobile handsets were automatically upgraded and a new menu entry that reads MobileCom was added to their phone. MobileCom customers can immediately begin using Clickit by scrolling through the newly added information menus and clicking on the topics they are interested in. The information is then automatically sent to the customer.

Clickit is a remarkable service because of its simplicity of use which makes it accessible to all kind of users, said Frederic Bertolino, products and services manager at MobileCom. Another key feature is that it does not require any particular type of mobile phone (most mobiles today support the technology on which the service is based), and this type of information service is the fastest way to access valuable information at a low cost. The simplicity and functionality of Clickit make its usage truly unique to users in Jordan and is not available anywhere in the Kingdom except through MobileCom.

Clickit offers users a host of information topics including local and international news, politics and business, technology, sports, entertainment, weather, prayer times, horoscopes, movie listings, jokes and musical events taking place throughout the Kingdom. Accessing the information is as simple as selecting the topic and clicking on a key an SMS is automatically sent to the customer within seconds containing the information required.

Unlike other mobile information services, Clickit does not require the user to carry a menu card with complicated codes and numbers which need to be inserted manually, the user simply clicks on the menu and the information is delivered, said Bertolino.
