Full-Featured, Low-Cost, Plug and Work Key System Available Nationwide through Proximiti

OTTAWA, Canada - Mitel, the trusted provider of enterprise IP communication solutions and applications for growing enterprises, today announced that Proximiti Communications, a VoIP and enhanced communications services provider, has selected the Mitel 3600 Hosted Communications System to provide nationwide IP telephone service for the small enterprise market. The Mitel 3600 is a hosted communications system that replaces traditional key systems in small businesses (five to 50 employees).

"The market demand for this kind of service offering is expanding rapidly," says Will Stofega, IDC's research manager for VoIP services. "SMBs want to be able to deliver the same high touch customer experiences and the same business process improvements large enterprises get from the deployments of IP telephony systems. The Mitel 3600 takes the complexity out of VoIP for SMBs while delivering these valuable features at an affordable price."

According to industry research the SMB market makes up to 45 percent of the total installed base of phone lines in the United States and generates $43 billion in revenue for the telecom products and enhanced services.

"Whereas our competitors address the SMB market with down-scaled versions of their enterprise products, Mitel's packet-based communications system, designed specifically for small businesses, is delivered over the existing carrier infrastructure using cost-effective phones, and offers improvements to all the features that clients are accustomed to," said Doug Michaelides, vice-president, global marketing, Mitel.

The 3600 delivers all of the features and functionality of a key system with additional features that are specifically designed for the needs of small businesses. The system allows carriers to provide hosted business-quality voice services for SMBs using any existing broadband data connection. Small business customers enjoy cost savings on their phone services and can rely on one vendor for all their business communication needs, allowing them to focus on their core business and bottom line.

"There is a tremendous demand to provide a simple and cost effective voice solution that meets the needs of the small business market as needs prompt the replacement of ageing key systems," said Proximiti CEO Greg Smith. "Mitel's 3600 system simplifies end-user installation, provides enhanced features that coupled with our business applications provide differentiation for our service at a price point well below other competitive offerings. Our customers are responding positively to the turnkey bundle that includes their business voice and broadband service, all of which is fully integrated with their new phone system, all on one bill and from one provider."

Proximiti's business communications service delivers:

  • A state-of-the-art system and telephone handsets designed for small business

  • Nation-wide business phone lines including unlimited local and long distance from $29.95/month

  • Perfect for multi-branch locations and teleworkers

The Proximiti and Mitel collaboration brings a cutting edge, affordable, easy-to-deploy hosted communications service throughout the USA and Canada. Mitel's resellers can add the Mitel 3600 Hosted Communications System to their current Mitel product portfolio to take advantage of selling hosted bundled telephony services to their customers.

The 3600 is compatible with the Mitel 5224 IP Phone, a dual-mode, dual-port device that features a multi-line display and access to an expanded range of programmable features. It is an ideal phone for teleworkers providing seamless access to the corporate voice network's voice mail, conferencing and other features of the office phone system. The 5224 is also supported on Mitel's SX-200 IP Communications Platform (ICP) and 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP) enabling small businesses to protect their investment by redeploying their investment in phones as their operations grow.

Proximiti customer Nexthaus Corporation, an expanding software development company based in North Carolina, successfully transitioned to the Proximiti hosted communications system in April. Nexthaus's Michael Bradley, vice-president, business development, noted the headache-free experience delivered by Mitel reseller Wynncom throughout the sale, installation, number porting and follow-up responses.

"This system is the only one we saw that had features such as the auto-attendant and paging," said Bradley. "We bought an extra phone so that the owner of our company could use the all of the features from home just like at the office. He loves it! And not only does the 3600 deliver all the features we want for a good price, but it's incredibly easy to use. Anyone can learn how to manage it and adding new users takes only minutes."
