Microsoft has made a huge leap with Windows 7 in terms of the desktop's performance, providing IT professionals, developers, enterprises, small businesses and home users with unique, simple and easy to use features that will make their everyday tasks simpler and faster, giving them more control, increased security and maximizing their computing efficiency."
Shubailat added, "On September 1st, Microsoft's enterprise and corporate customers were given a first-hand opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 through their volume licensing agreement. As for the general public, the products will be available on October 22nd."
A growing list of companies have already begun deploying Windows 7 because of its positively perceived benefits and great reputation. The Department of Statistics is one of the early deployers of Windows 7.
Dr. Haidar Freihat, General Manager of the Department of Statistics, Government of Jordan, stated, "The Department of Statistics is one of the very first organizations in the Kingdom to deploy the Beta version of Windows 7 on several computers because it is important for us to take advantage of technology advancements. Our initial evaluation of the product is that it has already helped impact our organization in a number of positive ways, including helping IT to streamline management and manage risk, while enabling a more effective and productive work force. We look forward to seeing more tangible benefits with Windows 7 especially with regards to optimizing desktop infrastructure and reducing IT costs."
With Windows 7, customers will be able to take advantage of the latest and broadest array of software and hardware options the industry has to offer. For enterprises, Windows 7 is designed to empower users to work from anywhere while providing the tools to manage security, compliance and data protection through an infrastructure that will drive down the cost of operations. IT professionals and small and medium-sized businesses will also benefit from tools and support that enhance software compatibility as well as ease deployment and migration concerns.
Windows Server 2008 R2 builds on the award-winning foundation of Windows Server 2008, expanding existing technology and adding new features to enable organizations to increase the reliability and flexibility of their server infrastructures. With Hyper-V, customers can take advantage of the cost savings of virtualization through Windows Server 2008 R2. This enables them to make the best use of their server hardware investments by consolidating multiple server roles as separate virtual machines (VMs) running on a single physical machine and also efficiently run multiple operating systems--Windows, Linux, and others--in parallel, on a single server.
Individuals purchasing new computers with Windows Vista will receive a guaranteed upgrade to Windows 7 for a limited time.
