Microsoft BI drives effective decision making for all Umniah staff members

Amman - Microsoft provided Umniah with a Business Intelligence (BI) solution to assist Umniah the telecommunications operator improve its business performance and competitive position in the Jordanian market by driving better decision making. This comes as part of a continuation of Microsoft's partnership with Umniah, where Microsoft technologies are an enabler to driving Umniah's innovation and dynamism in the market, and allow Umniah to continuously upgrade the services it provides to its customers.

The Microsoft BI solution has the capability of processing mass amounts of data as well as bringing together and organizing information across the organization, to provide Umniah's employees with reliable access to information they need to make informed decisions, so they can respond swiftly and appropriately to changing conditions that impact their business.

Majed Akel, Technical Account Manager at Microsoft said, "Microsoft Business Intelligence solution will effectively improve Umniah's business performance by driving better decision making across the organization. This solution is designed with the needs of every user in mind and is flexible to accommodate all the structured and unstructured information that Umniah uses every day whether it's from an e-mail, the Internet, a corporate data source, a conversation, or anywhere else."

Yaser Sghair, IT Director at Umniah stated, "Umniah and Microsoft have had a distinct relationship in all domains for many years, as Umniah has been using Microsoft products to conduct its business, which enhance the services we provide to our customers and simplify the employees work flow."

He added, "After 11 months of a high level and transparent selection process conducted by a special committee, we chose the Microsoft Business Intelligence solution, because we are confident of the company's experience, reputation, reliability and efficiency. Moreover, the solution is easy to use and integrates with Microsoft products that we already use, which requires less support time from our IT department and less training time for everyone to get started using the tools."

Microsoft BI is powered by Microsoft SQL Server and delivered through Microsoft 2007 Office interface, which provides Umniah with the ability to build and deploy robust BI applications for everyone throughout the company, while keeping costs under control. The Microsoft Business Intelligence solution will be commissioned by Microsoft's international partner, DMX; leaders in data mining research.   The project will commence under the Enterprise Agreement umbrella as it was recently renewed by Microsoft and Umniah.
