Magazine readers vote Unimog U 3000 best off-roader of the year in the 'special vehicles' category
Dubai - The Unimog, the ultimate off-road truck, has been voted number one in the "Special Vehicles" category by readers of the leading German magazine 'Off Road' for the second year running.
The 'OFF ROAD AWARD 2005" was made in a total of seven categories of specialist off-roading vehicles. Some 5,000 readers selected the winner from among 67 nominated vehicles, Mercedes-Benz vehicles being among the front-runners in two categories.
The Unimog U 3000 took first place with an amazing 64 % of votes. The Mercedes G-Class took second place in the 'off-road classics' category with 33.2 % of votes cast.
The Unimog came in for particular praise for its characteristic product features of the Unimog such as its extraordinary off-roading capability thanks to portal axles and its tremendous torsional rigidity, in conjunction with its superior robustness and solidity.
Produced since the autumn 2002 at the new Unimog production site in W?rth, the highly versatile Unimog models U 3000 to U 5000 are designed for use in the most challenging of off-road situations away from normal roads and tracks.
