Dubai - United Arab Emirates: The eighteenth edition of the annual Global Scientific Dental Alliance - GSDA was held virtually in the presence of 250 officials and representatives of more than 125 academic and dental institutions and international organizations, in addition to representatives of universities and colleges of dentistry from around the world.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Abdullah Al-Shammari, Scientific President of the Global Scientific Dental Alliance, with the participation of members of the Executive Council including: Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of GSDA and AEEDC Dubai, Dr. Tariq Al Khoury, Honorary Chairman of AEEDC Dubai, Dr. Nasser Al Malik, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of AEEDC Dubai, Dr. Robert Edwab, Executive Director of the GNYDM, Dr. Mohammad Abedin, Scientific Vice-Chairman of AEEDC Dubai, Dr. Meshari Alotaibi President of Makkah International Dental Conference & Exhibition, and Eng. Anas Al Madani, Vice Chairman and Group CEO of INDEX Holding. The GSDA virtual meeting organized by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions - a member of INDEX Holding, was attended by a number of prominent personalities, heads of associations, deans of colleges, experts and doctors in the field of dentistry.
The meeting was initiated by Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, where he welcomed the members of the alliance and all the participants and said: “It is an exceptional period that we are currently going through, and we all agree on the extent of its impact on our social and business life, but thanks to the great development in technology where we are able now to meet again on one platform with one goal, which is to enhance this sector and this profession, namely the profession of dentistry and oral health.”
Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani shared Dubai’s exceptional experience in dealing with this crisis, which has proven that it is able to withstand and continue to progress under all circumstances by imposing standards that guarantee the safety of individuals and societies. During his speech at the meeting, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani also announced that the membership of GSDA is now open for private dental clinics from around the world, as they can now be official members of the Global Scientific Dental Alliance.
From his part, Professor Abdullah Al-Shammari praised the great effort made by the organizing committee to host AEEDC Dubai this year, which is scheduled to be organized next June, and also praised the professionalism of response and adaptation of the organizing committee by imposing virtual and smart plans that ensure the sustainability of this important and specialized global event in dentistry.
Professor Abdullah Al-Shammari also emphasized the importance of continuous education, saying: “AEEDC Dubai will continue to be the most prominent platform and preferred hub for all professionals from the dental sector to benefit from scientific programs and activities that enrich their scientific capacity by meeting the most prominent experts from this sector.”
He added: “We are very proud of the progress in business and services witnessed by the Emirate of Dubai in terms of organizing events, which continues to dazzle the world with its merit and proves its ability to organize this great event with the best public safety standards and by following all modern procedures aimed at facilitating the participation of everyone and ensuring their safety.”
From his side, Dr. Tariq Khoury welcomed all attendees, saying: “I am pleased to see everyone gathered today on this platform and I hope to meet with all of you in person again in Dubai next June. We are confident of the current and future steps that the UAE is taking to ensure the safety of all visitors and arrivals.”
On his part, Dr. Nasser Al-Malik emphasized the momentum of the scientific content of this year's AEEDC Dubai conference and the diversity of scientific topics related to oral and dental health that are included in the scientific program of AEEDC Dubai 2021 conference.
Eng. Anas Al Madani said: “We at INDEX have taken all necessary measures and major preparations to ensure the success of hosting AEEDC Dubai conference and exhibition this year, and we will not hesitate to extend any effort to ensure the perfect organization of AEEDC Dubai, taking into account the safety measures for all participants from companies, doctors and students.”
On this occasion Eng. Anas Al Madani expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by the government of the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Dubai to ensure the smooth and safe continuity of scientific activities and the extent of readiness of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center to host an important event such as AEEDC Dubai in the current circumstances. He added: “One of the most important things that motivate us as organizers and urge us to fully organize AEEDC Dubai is the great enthusiasm from the participants and exhibitors to attend the next edition of AEEDC Dubai, which will mark the twenty-fifth edition since the launch of this great event, in addition to the great confidence by the countries and individuals in the UAE and their praise of how it succeeded in controlling all difficulties and providing all safety measures in order to ensure a privileged experience for all.”
Eng. Anas Al Madani added: “This year, we have increased the number of scientific activities and specialized lectures in response to the large number of applicants to participate and obtain the latest information on the most prominent developments in the dental sector. Therefore, we at INDEX and through our experienced technical team created a distinctive virtual education software that enables students and doctors who wish to obtain scientific lectures to participate in the lectures virtually without the need to personally attend to the lectures, which reduces the number of individuals in the event. Moreover, AEEDC Dubai will be a hybrid event this year as it will give the opportunity for participants to attend either physically or virtually for those who wish to do so.”
While Dr. Robert Edwab said during the meeting: “It is a pleasure to see all of you today at this important annual scientific meeting, which brings together a large number of participants from all over the world. Our partnership with AEEDC Dubai started since its inception and will last forever.” Dr. Robert Edwab also confirmed his participation in AEEDC Dubai 2021 next June.
And in his turn, Dr. Meshari Alotaibi praised the efforts made by the AEEDC Dubai Organizing Committee, which affirms the continuity of education in the dental sector.
Finally, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani welcomed the 12 new international institutions and scientific organizations as new members in the GSDA, and thanked everyone for attending this meeting virtually in the hope of meeting again at AEEDC Dubai 2021 next June. At the end of the session, the members also praised the "Waterfalls" global initiative for continuous medical education launched by the UAE government under the slogan "From UAE to the World" with the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, which is being implemented under the follow-up and supervision of Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, within the initiatives of the Behavioral Rewards Department at the "Ministry of the Possibilities" and in cooperation with INDEX Holding.
