Action Kuwait's expert PR strategist shares key elements at 2nd Kuwait Media Crisis Management

Kuwait -  7 July 2013 - Action Kuwait, part of Action Global Communications showcased its expertise in Crisis Communications during its participation at the 2nd Kuwait Media Crisis Management conference held last month at the Radisson Blu Hotel-Kuwait.

In a presentation entitled, 'Defining Moments' under the topic 'Developing media plans and strategies for crises and emergencies', key elements of an effective crisis communications  plan was highlighted by Susan Day, an expert PR strategist for Action Kuwait and Consultant for Communications and Media Training.

According to Day, an effective media plan and strategy for crises and emergencies should define the team, the crisis vis-à-vis a crisis communications plan, all potential crises, all potential stakeholders, specific crisis categories, how the crisis communications plan integrates with the crisis management plan, initiation process, progression of implementation, follow-up strategy and implementation, and preparation for next crisis.

"Addressing several questions such as who should be part of the team, when is a crisis your crisis, when is it time to launch, and what can be done better, can very well help define essential components of an effective media plan and strategy," Day explained. "At the same time, one should always keep in mind that no potential crisis is too small, no stakeholder is too minor, big lists should be manageable, a crisis communications plan must be integrated with a crisis management plan, and that even though a crisis may be over, the work isn't."

The Kuwait Media Crisis Management Conference was organised with an aim of exploring the strategies, mechanisms and arrangements that ought to be adopted in the event of a crisis. Participants were provided pointers by expert resource speakers on how to employ all media tools in order to exit a crisis with the least possible damages or negative impacts. The conference also highlighted the best manner to formulate clear media policies and strategies for each organization, either private or public, in order to be ready for action whenever needed.

Among the topics discussed at the two-day conference were: the concept of crises and disasters and the role of media; development of media plans and strategies to face crises and emergencies; constraints of the media work during crises and emergencies; security, legal and legitimacy precautions; practical experiences and case studies; the role of modern communication technologies; and management of social media outlets.
