Cairo, 17th May, 2009 - As part of a long-term expansion plan, McDonald's Egypt is opening a series of new restaurants in collaboration with Shell Service Stations.

The first of these restaurants is a full service restaurant which also serves as a drive-thru, and was launched today at the Shell Service Station in Sheikh Zayed city, located in 6th of October. Mr. Mohamed Mansour, McDonald's Egypt General Manager and Mr. Alaa El Din Mohamed Rafik El Gharabawy, Managing Director of Shell Marketing Egypt, were in attendance for the cutting of the ribbon and officially opened the new restaurant.

"McDonald's chose Shell Service Stations to partner with for many reasons. This co-alliance will prove beneficial to both parties in achieving their objectives and goals, seeing that both McDonald's Egypt and Shell Service Stations are market leaders in the top quality service that they provide and offer to their customers. McDonald's has long term expansion plans with Shell, and is planning to open seven stores in the coming future," said Mr. Mansour.

"We are delighted to cooperate with McDonald's Egypt that enjoys huge history and good reputation among Egyptians.  Today's opening of the new restaurant is part of our strategy to meet the needs of our customers by providing a variety of services and products. We are always dedicated to staying close to our customers and providing unique services," said Mr. Alaa El Din Mohamed Rafik El Gharabawy, Managing Director of Shell Marketing Egypt.

McDonald's Egypt consistently goes the extra mile when it comes to customer satisfaction. In order to meet the demands of the residents of Sheikh Zayed, McDonald's sought out the Shell Service Station located in the area.

McDonald's had previously built two stores in the area; one located in 6th of October and the other at the beginning of the Cairo-Alexandria Desert road. As always McDonald's reaches its customers wherever they are and offers them the high quality food that they have come to expect. To further meet the needs of its valued customers an additional restaurant was located in the neighboring area, and accordingly McDonald's Shell came to be.

The new 58th branch can seat up to 20 guests, and employs approximately 60 members of staff, creating further job opportunities for young Egyptians within the framework of the extensive employment that Manfoods Egypt already provides to over 3,000 members of staff.

McDonald's prides itself on providing safe and nutritious meals made by 100% Egyptian hands.
