United Arab Emirates, 7th February 2011: Mashreq, one of the UAE's leading financial institutions has announced the launch of a newly enhanced online banking platform. This upgraded system will equip customers with additional banking functionality, improved security measures and financial freedom. The launch of the enhanced platform is part of Mashreq's commitment to provide customers with convenient, safe and secure online banking services.

Commenting on this, Gavin Sanderson, Head of Distribution at Mashreq said: "Mashreq Online enabled over 2 million successful transactions in 2010 and we wish to enhance this convenient channel further as it has become customers' preferred channel, along with Mobile banking because of its convenience.  We recognize and acknowledge the importance of providing online banking which enables customers to feel safe and secure whilst online. We have made the portal simpler, convenient, and have added an extra security feature that will add peace of mind to our customers.

Through the upgraded portal, customers will be able to safely access their bank accounts in an easy manner; helping to save time and making it easier to find what that they are looking for. Mashreq has also introduced an activation code for adding a payment beneficiary; ensuring customers process their day to day transactions or payments securely, and with additional peace of mind.

Gavin added: "In recent months, unfortunately a very small number of customers have fallen victims to phishing frauds, where they inadvertently disclosed their personal details to fraudulent websites. With the newly launched enhanced online banking platform carrying additional security feature, customers will have greater protection.  

Mashreq has introduced a one-time password process where customers must add their utility account number in the beneficiary list and activate the beneficiary by entering the activation code received on their mobile number.
