You Mean the World To Us

Dubai, U.A.E. -  The Global Customer Appreciation Week has become a true pillar of Marriott's culture, from its beginning many years ago as an initiative called True North Week. Every October, Marriott thanks their loyal customers for their business.

The week from October 17 to 22 is a worldwide celebration of the fantastic relationships Marriott has with their customers. Marriott sales associates around the world want their customers to know how important they are and that they mean the world to the Marriott family! It is a great opportunity to embrace customers and show appreciation.

Next week we are focusing on celebrating our relationships with our customers by holding various initiatives, starting with a Kick-Off breakfast at the Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites, followed by week of customer focused activities at our Marriott Executive Apartments Dubai Creek, Marriott Executive Apartments Dubai Green Community, Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites, Renaissance Dubai and our JW Marriott Hotel.

Building, maintaining and enhancing our relationships with our existing accounts is what Global Teleprospecting Day is all about, that will take place in the Renaissance Dubai Hotel where we look forward to thanking over 1000 customers in one day!

The Marriott Sales Team will be visiting various areas across the city, appreciating our clients personally with a sweet treat from our rolling ice cream van. This is a joint effort of all 6 Marriott properties together with one voice celebrating relationship which is the main focus during the Global Customer Appreciation Week. Marriott Hotels Dubai will end the week with an executive cocktail reception at the Town Square, JW Marriott Dubai, attended by our Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East & Africa, Mr. Mark Satterfield.

Marriott Business Council Chair, Elaine Watson, believes that "relationships with our customers is something that Marriott takes great pride in and this week and underlines the importance that we place on our valued guests. We are all really looking forward to recognizing our customers during Global Customer Appreciation Week in the Dubai market and meeting as many of our 'extended family' as possible to thank them for their loyalty to our Brands"

Further initiatives include education about Marriott's Spirit to Serve, with an event in the middle of the week happening at the Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community, which will be the venue for students from the Green Community School to learn hotel basic operations and Marriott culture. This is a fun and engaging workshop for the next generation.

Spirit to Serve is part of Marriott's Social Responsibility & Community Engagement.

Believing that strong neighborhoods, towns, and cities are vital to the well-being of our society and economy, Marriott feels the special responsibility and role to play in helping communities thrive aiming to make every Marriott community to be a better place to live and work because of Marriott's present. There will be the upcoming charity event entitled '7th Annual Marriott Charity Golf Tournament - Par 3 Adult & Child'. This event will be held for the second consecutive year in the Creek Golf and Yacht Club on November 5th 2010. This year all the proceedings from the event will be donated to the Senses Residential and Day Care for Special Needs.

Marriott's social responsibility and community engagement programs not only benefit communities, but strengthen culture, help attract and retain valued associates, and provide work/life balance and personal development opportunities.

Marriott International's signature issues for social responsibility are:

S - Shelter and Food - ...addressing housing and hunger needs, including in times of disaster

Every day around the world, guests call Marriott their "home away from home." That's why it's only natural for us to help create places of refuge for those in need, providing housing and feeding the hungry including during times of disaster.

E - Environment - ...working toward a greener, healthier planet

Marriott's more than twenty year commitment to environmental preservation starts at the very top. Our executive Green Council is implementing a green strategy into our everyday business operations by developing sound and inspirational environmental initiatives.  In 2008, we collaborated with Conservation International, a global conservation organization to help us develop a five-point strategy that will enable us to measure, reduce and offset our global carbon footprint.

This strategy is focused on:

  • Protecting the rainforest through carbon offsets.

  • Setting aggressive goals to further reduce our fuel and water consumption over the next 10 years and to install solar power where feasible.

  • Engaging with our top 40 vendors to supply price-neutral greener products across our $10 billion supply chain.

  • Empowering our hotel development partners to site, design and construct new hotels in line with the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED standard.

  • Educating and encouraging our associates and guests to support the environment through their everyday actions.

R - Readiness for Hotel Careers - ...educating and training the next generation

As a growing global employer, having a prepared talent pool of future associates is essential.  We are committed to providing opportunities to the next generation.  We focus on programs serving young people from challenging backgrounds, where our assistance often provides life-changing alternatives.

V - Vitality of Children - ...aiding sick and impoverished children

Supporting the needs of sick and impoverished children is a heartfelt desire of Marriott associates around the world.  In many communities where we operate, children are vulnerable to the effects of poverty including crime, neglect, and sexual exploitation.

E - Embracing Global Diversity and Inclusion - ...providing opportunities, especially through the workplace
