The Centre for GIS to co-host the conference & exhibition being held for the first time in Qatar
Doha, State of Qatar- Doha, the capital city of Qatar is all set to host the 7th edition of Map Middle East Conference and exhibition from 17-19 April 2011 at Ritz Carlton Hotel organised by GIS Development and co-organised by The Centre for GIS, Ministry of Municipality & Urban Planning, State of Qatar. Since its inception Map Middle East has provided an international platform for building networks to enable g-lateral ties in the Middle East region for geospatial community. It aims to look into many aspects of geospatial technologies by bringing in the field experts from across the length and breadth of the region. In the past Map Middle East conferences were hosted in Dubai and Abu Dhabi wherein they were well received and were supported by esteemed organizations like Dubai Municipality, Space Reconnaissance Centre and Environmental Agency. This year, themed "Regional Spatial Data Infrastructure & Capacity Building", the Map Middle East 2011 aims at bringing together leaders, experts, technology providers and users for a comprehensive overview of the various dimensions of the Regional Spatial Data Infrastructure in the Middle East.
The conference will witness the august presence of H.E Sheik Abdal-Rahman bin Abdal-Aziz Bin Jassem al-Thani, Hon'ble Minister, Ministry of Municipality & Urban Planning, State of Qatar and Eng. Ali Abdulla al-Abdulla, Assistant Undersecretary for Planning Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, State of Qatar. To add more value to the conference, Map Middle East 2011 will be joined by eminent personalities from the geospatial industry in the plenary sessions namely Mr Manaf Al Sada, Director, Centre for GIS, State of Qatar; Mr Daniel Wallace, General Manager, Trimble, Mr Ed Parsons, Geospatial Technologist from Google; Mr Shafik Jiwani, Executive Vice President, Rolta; Mr Reudiger Wagner, Product Management, Leica Geosystems, Dr Abu-Bakr Abdelzaher, Head-Data Centre, Qatar Petroleum, Professor Konechny, Eminent Professor, University of Hannover; Mr Dean Angelides, Director-International, ESRI; Mr Stephano Morisi, Vice President, Bentley Geospatial and Mr Mansoor Al Malki, Director-IT, Qatar Statistics Authority.
Highlighting the applications of geospatial technologies, the conference will be having seminars on Construction and Engineering, Infrastructure & Utilities, Environmental Management & Development Planning, Regional SDI, Oil & Gas sector. Apart from these areas of high end applications, the conference will also have sessions on GNSS, 3D Modeling & Photogrammetry, e- governance etc.
Parallel to the conference will be a 3 day exhibition focusing on innovations in Geospatial Technologies, Services & Products. Products on display will cater to the requirements of different sectors like Remote Sensing, GIS, Photogrammetry, Surveying Technologies, Environment, Image processing technologies, 3D mapping software and technologies, latest printing technologies etc.
