Courses Designed to Help Students Meet Demands of Industry
Dubai: 13 April 2006 - MAHE - Manipal Dubai Campus (MMDC), the regional campus of the leading Indian university, is showcasing its range of courses that offer professional training in new fast-growing fields in Dubai, at the Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX) taking place in Dubai from 12-14 April 2006.
Two key fields in which MAHE Dubai is offering undergraduate courses include Designing and Biotechnology. The courses offered include B.A. Fashion Design & Technology, B.A. Interior Design and a BSc in Biotechnology.

"Our courses, some of which are in new emerging fields, are designed to meet the requirements of today's economy and industry. Our programmes are all delivered with a clear emphasis on interaction with industry so that the students are well-versed with the demands and expectations of the industry," he added.
Currently MAHE Dubai is the only institution of its kind in the UAE offering a full-fledged Bachelor's degree programme as well as a certificate programme in Fashion Design and Technology. In addition, it offers a programme in Jewelry Design, a highly sought-after qualification considering the booming demand for gold jewellery in Dubai.
The Department of Fashion Design & Technology (DFDT) at MAHE Dubai works in close cooperation with the fashion industry and obtains corporate support from major multinationals to promote and foster its programme. Many of its graduates, in addition to being entrepreneurs, have been placed in leading fashion houses in capacities ranging from merchandising to creative and innovative designing
The Faculty develops its students by facilitating their close interaction with the industry through real-life projects. Constant interaction with the industry gives the students an opportunity to get hands-on experience even before they graduate.
Fashion technology students at MAHE Dubai showcase their work at a major gala event called Fashionova held in prestigious venues in Dubai. Popular with the public, they attract a widespread audience in excess of 2000 people each year, providing publicity for the students and a platform for starting their career or business venture. The fourth batch of fashion design and technology students graduating from MAHE Dubai will be launching their careers as designers and entrepreneurs in Fashionova 2006 to held in Dubai in May 2006.
MAHE-Dubai also offers an undergraduate programme in biotechnology another emerging field in the UAE. MAHE-Dubai's biotechnology programme is a career oriented course designed to provide basic knowledge and practical skillsets required to be become a successful biotechnologist.
Upon successful completion of course, the students have immense job opportunities in the bio-pharmaceutical industry, research and development laboratories, agricultural and dairy farming, food and chemical industries, tissue culture laboratories, and academic organizations. Obtaining the degree also enables them to pursue post-graduate studies in various domains such as agricultural biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry and medical and genetic engineering.
Other fields that MAHE Dubai offers courses in include Business Administration, Information Systems & Management, Media & Communications and Interior Design. MAHE Dubai also offers post graduate programmes including a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and an MSc in Internet Systems & Security.
