-International quality assessment success demonstrates sustained world class standards

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 12 January 2015: Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA) proud to announce that Mafraq hospital has received international re - accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI), the global leader in accrediting healthcare organisations.

The JCI accreditation hospital standards are intended to ensure continuous, systematic and organization wide improvement in the outcome of patient care. As part of its commitment to providing world class healthcare, SEHA stipulates that all of its hospitals and clinics should obtain international independent accreditation, to ensure quality medical care and treatment in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. 38 of the SEHA healthcare facilities now have the Golden Seal of re - accreditation.

Dr. Matar Al Darmaki, Acting Group Chief Executive Officer at Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA) said: 'JCI sets international standards which enhance healthcare service levels around the world, both in terms of quality and patient safety.  JCI accreditation allows us to obtain a comprehensive assessment of medical and administrative standards in Mafraq Hospital and to benchmark ourselves against worldwide standards for quality recognition. I am delighted to say Mafraq Hospital did extremely well.'

Mafraq Hospital received the JCI accreditation following the visit of a team of licensed international experts, who carried out a 5 day audit to ensure that international standards related to patient safety were met without exception. Continuous and constant adherence to these standards by the Hospital's staff is required to maintain the accreditation. 'The JCI team spent several days at Mafraq Hospital, interviewing staff, following our processes and systems and ensuring we incorporate patient safety in all we do,' added Dr. Matar Al Darmaki.

Mr Ahmed Al Mehairbi, Acting Chief Executive Officer at Mafraq Hospital explained: 'We really do live by the high standards set by JCI. Reaccreditation demonstrates to our community that we have sustained these international standards and we also have systems and processes in place to continue to offer a high level of world class, quality care for our patients.'
