Leading Dubai based bank, Lloyds TSB Dubai, has launched a Management Development Programme aimed at giving valuable work experience to young UAE Nationals.

Lloyds TSB regional manager, Giles Cunningham, with one of the recruits, Hanifa Haji Mohammed Sidiq. Three Emirati students have been signed up to the one year programme.

Hanifa Haji Mohamed Sidiq, Noora Saeed Juma Nasher and Shams Rashid Al Mehair, are studying at Zayed University and will spend one day a month plus one eight week work placement at Lloyds TSB Dubai's head office on Al Wasl Road in Jumeira. Each has passed a rigorous assessment programme that included competency interviews.

'I am thrilled to welcome Hanifa Haji Mohamed Sidiq, Noora Saeed Juma Nasher and Shams Rashid Al Mehair, to Lloyds TSB Dubai,' said Giles Cunningham, Regional Manager Lloyds TSB Dubai. 'They have all shown considerable ability and potential during the selection process and I have every confidence that the programme will be of huge benefit to both the students as well as to Lloyds TSB.'

He continued, 'We are committed to ensuring that Lloyds TSB contributes to the development of young UAE Nationals who may seek a career in banking and we believe that this Management Development Programme is as much about us demonstrating to the students what working life is like in a busy banking centre as it is about the students learning about the intricacies of different aspects of banking.'

Following an induction into working practices at Lloyds TSB, the students will receive a thorough grounding and experience of working across all departments within the bank such as Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking and Private Banking. In addition, areas of operation such as communications and IT will also be covered during the programme.

Hanifa Haji Mohamed Sidiq said, 'I am proud to have been selected to join Lloyds TSB's Management Development Programme. Lloyds TSB is one of the most established names in banking around the world and it is a fantastic opportunity for all of us to be gaining this insight and experience here in Dubai.'

Lloyds TSB has been active in Dubai for over thirty years and has been a strong advocate of the Government's Emiratisation programme.

'We endorse both the letter and the spirit of the Emiratisation initiative,' Said Giles Cunningham. 'As an employer we have a duty to develop our ties with Nationals, as customers, contacts and colleagues. We are proud of our record in achieving our Emiratisation goals and this Management Development Programme will also serve to show the local community that we seek to broaden our recruitment base.'
